I love to start the week by writing the Monday Happy List. It’s a chance for me to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures. It’s a post I love to write. We love the Summer holidays and we were so lucky to get away to Devon for a holiday by the sea last week.
Summer Holidays edit {Week 305}
We stayed in a pretty AirBnB in Cockwood, Devon, the same place we stayed in during the February half term. We all love being by the sea and spent plenty of time playing on the beach in Dawlish and Teignmouth. We even watched the dolphins swimming off Dawlish one evening which was amazing. As it’s somewhere we visit quite often we were able to visit all our favourite places and relax.
It’s always fun to explore somewhere new and we went to Lydford Gorge to meet up with some friends. Owned by the National Trust, it is the deepest gorge in the South West and has a spectacular 30m waterfall. It was a bit of a trek on a very hot and sticky day but the views were worth it. The puppy loved walking in the cool water and we all enjoyed a drink in a local pub to cool off after our walk.
It’s the time of year for sunflowers and we were excited to re-visit Darts Farm just outside Exeter to visit their sunflower patch. It was another hot and sticky day (this was definitely the theme last week) but the children loved cutting their own sunflowers and we managed to get them all the way back to London in one piece!
As much as we love being away, we also love coming home and sleeping in our own beds. Although I took some sewing projects with me I didn’t actually pick any of them up. So I was happy to come home and have a bit more time for my hobbies. A few weeks ago I got a kit to make resin flowers and finally got to try them. I’ve never worked with resin before but the flowers turned out really well.
