Monday Happy List

Summer Holidays edit {Week 303}

Draw with Rob art tutorial

I love to start the week by writing the Monday Happy List. It’s a chance for me to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures. It’s a post I love to write. We love the Summer holidays but they are not usually quite so quiet as this year! We are still trying to have as much fun as possible.

Summer Holidays edit {Week 303}

Like most people we have spent a lot of time on our house over lockdown. We’ve had a massive clear out, tidied up the garden and built a fitted wardrobe in our bedroom. We finally finished our wardrobe and it looks lovely. We replaced a standalone wardrobe and now have sliding doors which hide lots of shelving and hanging rails. I can finally have all my clothes in one room and it’s helped tidy the whole house.

a trip to Ray Mill Island

Since the parks re-opened we have been frequent visitors. My daughter loves a trip to the park and our local park is not too busy. We also squeezed in a visit to Ray Mill Island in Maidenhead which was good. The children have also been catching up with the latest Draw with Rob videos – their common goal is too make it on to his grid each week – which so far they have succeeded! We have been playing games such as Conservation Crisis and generally trying to keep busy.

I’m trying to be positive about September that the children will both go back to school although the news doesn’t fill me with hope. I have bought the new school uniform, new lunch bags and pencil cases – although I re-read the last letter from school which said they will provide all stationery this term! I’ve even signed my children up for their normal school clubs but I’m beginning to wonder if they will be able to run them.

We have the most wonderful dog trainer who helps us with our naughty puppy. Last weekend we went out for a walk with her to do more puppy training. We’re trying to get him more confident around water so took him to our local stream. We placed treats leading down to the stream to try to encourage him. We’re going to try and do this a few more times to make him more confident.

brunch at the Red Onion Cafe Ruislip

I’ve missed eating out but still don’t feel hugely comfortable about it. On Saturday we had brunch at the Red Onion Cafe in Ruislip. This was one of our favourite places to eat and we missed it. They’ve re-designed their garden and we had a little booth which was amazing and the food was delicious too.

Have a great week everyone.

    We’ve also got a naughty puppy. Lockdown put pay to his puppy training classes so we can’t wait to re-start them!

      We had a few with the Dogs Trust via Zoom which were fun! And now we have found a trainer who will come to our house 🙂

    It seems strange that it is the summer holidays already, this year seems to have both lasted forever and gone by so quickly at the time same time. It sounds like you have been making the most of your time and been having some fun adventures.

    We have friends who live in South Ruislip and love Red Onion, we have not been yet, but will be seeing them next Monday so maybe I can go for a visit

    The meal from Red Onion in Ruislip looks amazing! Have to admit I am enjoying food out when I get the chance. Nice to have someone else cook for me. Fingers crossed for schools going back in September… I’ve retired as a home school teacher now! 😉 Sim

    The summer holidays feel so strange this year! We’ve held off on the uniforms at the moment. I hate all the uncertainty.

    Ill be honest im looking forward to the kids going back to school for them to have sense of normality and better education etc, however based on recent events I’m not hugely optimisitic.

    I love how you start the week with such positivities and gratitude! You seem more organised than me, I still have not got my children’s uniform sorted yet although they are to return in September

    I’m a bit like you and don’t feel hugely comfortable about eating out, but I do miss it. We’ve booked to go out tomorrow so we’ll see how it goes x

    I am also hopeful that things will go back to ‘normal’ in September and the kids can return to school but with the news of rising cases I’m now not so sure.
