I love to start the week by writing Five Happy Things. It’s a chance for me to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures – it’s a post I always enjoy writing.
Five Happy Things {Week 254}
We started off the week camping at Nodes Point on the Isle of Wight. We had a great time camping (despite the weather!) and enjoyed playing on the beach, crabbing swimming in the pool. Unfortunately we had an awful journey back to London. I was really happy to get home.
We were all happy to be back in London. We went to the park, we hid painted rocks, had a playdate with friends and ticked off Week 5 of the Summer Reading Challenge.
The children had been bugging me about taking them to the rock climbing centre for ages and we finally managed to squeeze in a session at Rock Up Watford. They have 27 climbing towers of at least 8m. I clipped the children into their harness and they could try each climbing tower.
Have you heard of The Pop Up Farm. It’s about half an hour north of London and I’ve wanted to visit for ages. Thankfully it recently re-opened for its Sunflower Festival, so we jumped into the car and headed north. It was a really fun experience – images fields full of beautiful sunflowers! We followed a trail through the sunflowers, picked some to take home, then sat in the shade eating ice-creams trying to cool down. So much fun!
Yesterday we finally made it to the Notting Hill Carnival. I’ve lived in London for nearly 20 years but have never made it before. This year I did, with my family in tow. I have to admit it was hot and chaotic! We were never really sure what was going on but it was quite an experience. The weather was scorching so we lasted a couple of hours until we headed home and the kids had an epic water fight in the garden.
Have a great week everyone!

August 26, 2019 at 6:47 pmWell hello there! I just found your blog when I saw that you posted on my friend Emma’s blog! I love following people in London, as I am always there, and better yet, I love kids! I have 5 of my own, and even though 3 are grown, I am seriously waiting on my grandkids!! 🙂 I have 2 teens at home though and all the cool stuff you did with your kids, mine would love. They are 17 and 14. I’ve never been to the Notting Hill Carnival either, but I do love Notting Hill. If you don’t mind, I might just have to borrow your 5 happy things, because that’s such a positive way to start off the week! I look forward to following you! Tammy
