Week 5 has gone past in a bit of a flash, we’ve enjoyed entertaining the family but unfortunately been ill too.
An extra pair of hands with the children meant I was able to go to Camden for the DryNites Mums crafting event with Tamara Melvin and parenting expert Emma Kenny which was fab. I still need to put my upcycled lamp together and share it with you.
My husband and I had a rare date night at our local Miller & Carter restaurant.
I’ve been spending loads of time making things with the children which we love doing. It’s so autumnal we’ve been bringing back armfuls of leaves, seeds and berries for our nature table. It’s inspired some fun crafting sessions and we’re pretty proud of our seed fairies.
We’ve also worked hard on our Summer Holiday journal. I think it’s helped my 4 year old remember his letters and numbers, I’m hoping it will benefit him in his transition to Reception (which I’m trying hard to ignore).
We enjoyed another trip to the farm where we brushed ponies and held baby rabbits which I really enjoyed, even if my children didn’t.
Sorry to mention the C-word but I’ve been planning handmade Christmas gifts for my family. I want to get started early so have been dreaming up some fun seasonal projects.
Over the Bank Holiday we did the obligatory DIY. After 15 months in our new house we’ve hung our pictures up and I’m amazed the difference they make. It’s lovely to see such familiar things around the place.
And I was pretty happy to be featured in the Mumsnet Summer craft round up for our painted stone fairy door.
We’re holding on to the last few days of the Summer holiday before my son starts Reception. I expect the next few weeks will be spent hunting down white PE shorts – wish me luck!
