I never used to think my 6 year old was a fussy eater. He is active and therefore hungry and used to eat anything I put before him. Over the last 12 months I have noticed him becoming fussier, especially with his school lunch. I’ve ended up making a packed lunch for him on Wednesday’s as he refuses to eat the food at school.

I think my son would happily eat the same lunch every Wednesday if it was up to him but I like to try and make it interesting and memorable. I love the idea of making a fun bento lunch and I’ve amassed quite a collection of food picks and pots and have been giving him a different theme each week. It doesn’t take long to make with a bit of planning and it makes lunchtime extra fun. My favourite theme so far has been Star Wars – who’s excited about that new Rogue One Star Wars trailer!?!
I’ve made this a few times now and it’s so much fun.
Today we had Storm Trooper ham sandwiches, Chewie cheese slices, R2-D2 gingerbread biscuit, cucumber lightsabers and a cheeky Star Wars Kinder Surprise.
Other days I’ve included Babybel Death Stars, blueberries in yoghurt for the galaxy and cheese straw lightsabers. You can have so much fun with this theme.
I try to give my son a balanced healthy packed lunch and always make sure to include a Hartley’s No Added Sugar Jelly Pot. They are currently running a fun promotion encouraging us parents to create brilliant lunches for our little ones and collect an exclusive Hartley’s lunchbox through Hartley’s Lunchbox Collector Scheme.
