Smyths Our Generation review - Awesome Academy

Smyths Our Generation review – Awesome Academy School Room

Posted on September 22, 2018October 13, 2019 by jenny

My children love playtime and seem to particularly love role playing toys. They are a great way to help children explore the wider world, encourage their creativity and imagination. We’ve been fortunate to be sent some wonderful toys recently and with the weather turning decidedly Autumnal we are so happy to stay indoors and play!

Smyths Our Generation range

Recently we were sent a totally new type of toy to review. Invite your child into a world of imagination and play with Our Generation dolls and accessories at Smyths Toys Superstores. From school rooms to horse stables, from camping to chemistry, explore realistic themed outfits, accessories, and playsets that bring playtime to life. The range includes 45cm dolls and playsets to inspire your children’s imaginations.

Smyths Our Generation Awesome Academy

You can see the whole range of the Our Generation range in the latest Smyths toy catalogue. There is a huge variety of 45cm (18″) dolls which is a very popular doll size in America. The Our Generation dolls all have names and different personalities and accessories, such as Holiday Hope Doll, Alexa Ballet Doll, Phoebe Hair Play Doll and Sydney Lee Deluxe Doll. I had dolls when I was a child which I loved to play with, and I love that my children enjoy playing with dolls too.

Smyths Our Generation – Awesome Academy School Room

The Our Generation range includes so many wonderful playsets to offer extended play, such as a teepee (big enough for your child and favourite doll!), bunk beds, a hairdressing salon, school, vet clinic, R.V. camper and more. I think that the range would appeal to a wide group of children as there are so many different outfits and styles to choose from.

We were sent the Awesome Academy School Room to review. I was blown away by the size of the box! The Awesome Academy requires a little building as it is basically a three-sided room with floor. There is a door, two windows and the walls are covered with a cork notice board, white board and chalk board all of which you can use.

Awesome Academy School Room

It is just like a real school with teachers desk, two desks and chairs and 92 accessories which include shelves, books, recycling bins, stationery and lunch items. My children loved exploring the contents and enjoy setting up the Awesome Academy. It’s a huge playset and the outside also has plenty of detail, including a little locker area for clothes and shoes. There are several interactive features, such as the schoolroom clock (a battery was supplied for this) and alarm, there’s also a light over the white board (you will need to supply a battery to make this work).

Awesome Academy School Room

My children have been having lots of fun playing school. The playset is a decent size for two children to sit at so they’ve just about managed to play sitting side by side without arguing. They love the blank notebooks which are already full of notes and sums.

Smyths Our Generation Awesome Academy

Our Generation Awesome Academy School Room costs £149.99 from Smyths. That includes the school room with 92 accessories but unfortunately no Our Generation doll. We don’t yet have any Our Generation dolls so the children have been using their favourite cuddly toys which seem to work well. It’s a great toy which will provide hours of fun for children. Don’t forget you will need to stock up on batteries to make sure it’s fully interactive, and make sure you know how to switch it off if the alarm gets too annoying at Christmas!

Disclosure – we were sent the Awesome Academy for the purpose of this review.
