Yesterday we spent the morning at the Innocent Fruit and Veg Fest at Fruit Towers. My children love Innocent smoothies so I knew they would enjoy themselves and they were very excited when they heard where we were going. We arrived at Fruit Towers where they were given their own shopping lists. For each fruit and veg activity they completed they were given a sticker for their list.
They made fruit and veg heads – Little Sis is a cucumber fiend and ate most of the Cucumber Daddy she made.
They did some painting using fruit and veg which made lots of interesting shapes. I think the jazz hands show how happy he was to get messy.
They had a play on the coconut shy, and both kept going back to the Bounce says activity which involved pretending to be a runner bean and peas. The poor man in charge kept suggesting they go and get a smoothie to give himself a break!
Of course there was also some smoothie making at innocent Fruit Towers. This was probably our favourite part. The children drink a lot of smoothies but I’m ashamed to say we never make our own at home. Yesterday they had the perfect opportunity in the kitchen at Fruit Towers.
We were given a blender, lots of fruit and some fruit juice.
They picked their favourite fruit and added it all in with some juice to make their own concoctions. They sampled it before deciding it was perfect and poured it into a bottle. Together they designed a label which we stuck on to take home to show Daddy.
It was a great activity and so much fun!
I was able to speak to Anna, their in-house nutritionist, and chat about why it’s so important for the whole family to eat healthily and get everyone eating their 5 a day. I picked up some fun tips including making fruit kebabs with the children and adding fresh or dried fruit to breakfast cereal.
Of course there were plenty of chances to sample Innocent products and we were all able to enjoy the brand new fruit & veg smoothies which are just hitting shop shelves now. They come in two recipes – pineapples, apples and carrots, and strawberries, apples and beetroot. Both tasted really nice and I would never have guessed they included vegetables. They are a great way of encouraging your child to get their 5-a-day and the innocent range of smoothies and juices actually count as one of your child’s 5-a-day.
Our shopping lists completed it was time to head home with a goody bag full of the new fruit & veg smoothies.
We loved our visit to innocent Fruit Towers and hope you get a chance to try the new smoothies for yourself soon.
