Sew, Mama, Sew fabric giveaway

I thought I would participate in the Sew, Mama, Sew May Giveaway Day 2011. Up for grabs I have one metre of Royal Wedding fabric which I bought from my favourite department store, John Lewis. The fabric was produced to commemorate the wedding of Prince William and Miss Catherine Middleton on Friday 29th 2011. I was going to make something commemorative for the Royal Wedding but never got round to it. Rather than leave it sitting in my fabric drawer I thought I would offer it to someone who might actually use it! It would make lovely summery bunting, a cushion cover, could be incorporated into a quilt or even just kept for posterity.

  4. I am in the UK, and didn’t buy that fabric when it came out. Wished I did though, so it would be lovely to win some of it 🙂

  5. Ooh I watched it all from Thailand, I thought I wasn’t patriotic but I felt quite proud of the great show we put on for the wedding!

  6. I live in the UK, but my 7 year old niece is American, and she looooves princesses! I would make her a little totebag out of the fabric, and if I had enough left over, a quilt for one of her princess dolls. 🙂

  7. I would make some long booster cushions for my mum, using the whole repeat, and she can chill on the sofa with them will watching reruns of the royal wedding. A quilt would be lovely but I have just made her one of those!

  9. I think anything made with this fabric would be awesome. Thus far, I pretty much only make quilts. But I think this would be some fabric I would have to get in my hands and contemplate about before I make a final decision. I’d love to win it – such an awesome giveaway. Thanks for the opportunity to participate in your giveaway.

  10. Ooh, love it! Might have to hoard it, but if not, definitely a pillow cover. I’m giving away vintage sewing supplies over on my blog, Foziewisp, if you’re interested. Thanks so much!

  13. I would make a new tea cozy or cushion cover for my grandmother, she loved the wedding. Thanks for the giveaway!

  14. I would have to make a small lap robe with it… there is a lady who was born in England in the nursing home where my daughter works… she was so excited about the Wedding of the Century and she just loves Kate. I would love to see the sparkle in her eyes if I gave her a quilt made with that fabric.

  15. I would love to have this fabric to make a little lap quilt. I got up bright and early (4am our time) to watch the wedding festivities. Thank you so much for the giveaway.

  16. Hello! The fabric is beautiful. Never seen it before. I think i’d finally get my sewing machine back out if I were lucky enough to win it and have a go at making a little pouch to keep the Royal Wedding wool shawl I intend to knit in it!
    Best wishes,

  17. Man… I would hate to cut it up or something but I think I would make a pillow and embroider up some coordinating patterns for more pillows.

  18. Well, first I would treasure it for a long while! Once I was ready to take the plunge and cut, I’d make some kind of wall hanging for my sewing room!
Thanks for participating in Giveaway Day!

  19. I ended up becoming a real Royal Wedding junkie & would love to win this fabric! I think it would be lovely bunting. And maybe something like a cushion cover too. hmmm…. Anyways thanks for the giveaway & I’ll be sure to tell you what I make with it if I win!

  20. Hmm it’s difficult to think about what I would make with this fabric. Something that would commemorate the occasion. Maybe a pillow? Better make that a “display only” pillow, not a “let the kids run rampant with it” pillow hehehe

  21. We enjoyed our own Royal Wedding Party down here in New Zealand with guests from England (quilters too) and supper including a glass of bubbly! The fabric looks so pretty, perhaps it would look nice made into some for the kitchen, perhaps a table cloth or an apron? Then I could feel royal too.

  22. Gorgeous gorgeous! Depending on the feel of the fabric, I might make kitchen curtains for the little tiny side window … or maybe a set of cute pillows for my friend’s daybed. She’s from the UK and gets homesick sometimes!

  23. How cool is that!?! I think I’d like that as curtains in my sewing room 🙂

  24. Thank you for the great giveaway. It’s lovely.

oh I am not sure what I would make but the wedding was just beautiful. I was up at 5 am watching it. Her dress was amazing. I think I would make a wall hanging to commemorate the wedding.

  25. My heart raced when I saw this, I was tragically obsessed with the wedding! I would make lots of little things – a cushion, some detailing on a tote bag…

  26. what cool fabric – i loved the royal wedding, shame that for me it coincided with pre-bath toddler meltdowns and bathtime (i live in singapore) i think i’d use it for a quilt back, for a baby quilt for a baby born in the year of the royal wedding. thanks for the giveaway.

  27. So awesome! I didn’t even know fabric like this was being made! I would make some cute pouches for my friends. We all got together and had a wedding watching party! We made scones and fascinators and dressed up! 🙂

  28. How Cool. I am not sure what I would make. Possibly and awesome dress or skirt for my daughter. She is 7 and loved watching “the real princess get married on tv.”

  29. I’d sew somthing for my dear 89 year old freind, once a citizen of the British Empire(british ghana), transplanted to america but never forgeting her mother land

  30. I missed the royal wedding coverage because I was traveling that week, but of course I had to google the wedding pictures! I think some tea towels would be nice, with the monogram centered of course! A quilt would also be a fun project to make. Thanks for the chance to win!

  31. Wow – what an awesome giveaway. I don’t know what I’d make with it – I’d be too scared to cut into it – it’s pretty special fabric – maybe a quilt, or napkins, or a cloth for the table. We are royalists in our family (New Zealand) – it would be amazing to win this. Thanks for the opportunity.

  32. I’m sure that if I was lucky enough to win I would find myself facing the same dilemma I have with a blank notebook … too scared to use it and mess it up 🙂

For some reason I’m being drawn to kitchen goodies …. an apron perhaps? or table runner. I do have a plate from Charles and Di’s wedding so perhaps I could make a little shrine on top of my china cabinet.

  33. What gorgeous fabric, i’m cursing myself for avoiding John Lewis now (saving money). I would love to use that to make a quilt, hand quilting around all the details.

  34. Thanks for the generous giveaway!
Lovely fabric… I hope I am the lucky one to win it..
I will need it to make reversible tote or a skirt for myself 🙂

  35. I have a friend Downunder who was a bit Royal Wedding mad…. I’d make her something with it. Perhaps a pillow cover. Thanks for the chance.

  36. This is such a wonderful giveaway. I watched the Royal Wedding here in Australia. They are a lovely couple, I think he is very sensible and grounded, due in no small way to how his mother “Diana” raised him. I would love to win this fabric. I would, firstly, take an appropriate piece and frame it then the rest for a cushion or two depending on what was left. 🙂

  37. I’m make a lap quilt to treasure, I watched the RW on TV here in Argentina, and it was gorgeous! They’re so lovely and sooo in love.
Tks fr this wonderful chance of getting some 1 of a kind stuff.
    Much love, xoxo
    Paula

  38. I’d make all my colleagues little pouches. We had so much fun watching the wedding together. We got hardly any work done that day!

  39. Wow – I have no idea what I would make with that fabric if I won it, but it is just lovely. I’d have to think long & hard about an appropriately lovely project for it… xo

  40. The wedding was lovely, but I didn’t follow it closely. However, I would love it for the symbolism of a great part of my family heritage (Welsh and English). I’ve got ambitions to make a quilt that contains symbols of my family roots. This would be perfect!

  41. I don’t specifically know what I’d do with it but I’d make something for my friend Dez who is obsessed with all things royal!

  42. How fantastic! I got up early here in the U.S. and watched it–just lovely. I think I would make something whimsical out of it– like a full summer skirt, something of a conversation piece. Or possibly a few tote bags for some of my other Anglophile friends!

    ~Heather

  43. I think it would look lovely as patchwork, either a quilt or pillows. I’d be tempted to leave it as whole as possible, but patchwork could really highlight the center motif.

  44. I would make a lovely pillow case out of it to put on the couch pillow. thank you for the chance to win!

  45. Oh my! This has to be my favorite giveaway so far! 🙂 (I have entered many)
I am a bit obsessed with the Royals (to my husband’s dismay) and would love this!! I would prob try and make a quilt with it. I couldn’t bear to cut it up. I am now a follower of your blog! You can take a peak at mine (or become a follower too) 🙂 http://trendymegs.blogspot.com Then you can see my Royal Wedding Party photos. 🙂 Thanks for the opportunity to win something special!

  46. I’d be tempted to keep it for posterity, as I was there for the last royal wedding (I’m an Air Force brat.) and have a little collection, but I’d probably end up making something that keeps the print “intact” for my Anglophile sister. Perhaps a in a quilt or a bag??

  47. I’d probably make a pillow! Will was supposed to marry me from when we were little… but he forgot to hop the pond and propose! (My birthday is the same as Kate’s!)

  48. What lovely fabric! I am not sure what I’d do with it exactly but should I win, I’m leaning along the lines of creating special covers for dream diaries for young girls. Or maybe tea time linens for a youngster to play “tea” with.

    The possibilities are swirling.

  49. I’d give it away as a gift in my quilting group’s Christmas bag as the lady I have as my secret partner is a great follower of the Royal family and would simply adore to have this!

  50. Im in Uk and didnt know there was a fabric for W & K !
Id make a banner with it…….Im a Royalist I confess lol

  51. It’s hard to tell without feeling the fabric, but I think I would like to make an apron and/or pillows with it.

  52. My great grandmother came over to the US from England with her mother and sisters in 1892 at the age of 3. Her mother had 2 possesions- her bible and a rocking chair. I have the rocking chair now and it is need of new cushions on the caning seat and the back. I’d love to use this fabric to bring a bit of the UK back to the chair 🙂

  53. I would surprise my sewing buddy/walking partner/neighbour Nancy and give her the fabric – she threw a party for the Royal Wedding even though it was on obscenely early in the morning here 🙂

  54. Oh definitely a quilt – something with union jacks.
Many thanks for the opportunity! (& what a lovely blog)

  55. As an English teacher, I’d love to win this commemorative fabric!
I think I’d first make a pillow cover using the central panel with the intials, and probably use the rest for some kind of small pouch and a very British mug rug! 😉
    Thanks for the chance!

  56. I would make something for my good friend Cait who was so obsessed with the Royal wedding I was tempted to just tell her to put a cork in it already! lol Although I think if I do that, I’ll just get another earful. ^_^

  57. Seriously, fabulous fabric. I might break it up and use it to make a little lap quilt… or keep it entire and make a pillow… it’s so nice. Or, looking at other people’s suggestions, back a quilt, or apron… umm… if I don’t win… is it available online? Or for re-sale from someone? Don’t think I can get it in the US…. man, I miss fabric shopping in John Lewis. We used to do that all the time when we lived there…

  58. It would DEFFINETLY be turned in to pillow cases! My Daughter is ALL ABOUT keeping a scrapbook of the new DUKE and DUTCHESS of CAMBRIDGE

  59. What a charming fabric panal-although I’m all the way from across the pond, I’ve been awe struck by the Royal wedding and would love to fashion something up from that lovely piece!

    elimeenah(at)yahoo(dot)com

  60. Maybe I’d frame it. 🙂 I’m a British expat in the US, so I got up at 4am to watch the wedding! My 5 year old got up on her own at 5am so she could watch it with me. Would be fun to win this fabric. Thanks for the giveaway!

  61. I would make pillow covers and zippy bags. Then I would cut out the main design like you have pictured and feature it front and center in a quilt block and frame a piece under glass. What a wonderful memory of that special day.

  62. Thanks for the opportunity to participate in your giveaway. Well that is just super duper cool! Thanks for participating in SMS Giveaway! Thanks for the opportunity.
