Did you know that there was a ‘right’ way to hang a Union Jack? Apparently an upside-down Union Jack is used as a sign of distress. Even worse, it can be seen as offensive to some! Last week I was playing around with some of my gorgeous Liberty London Tana Lawn to create a fun Union Jack Liberty flag. The union Jack has so much history behind it, incorporating the English and Scottish flags with the cross of Ireland’s St Patrick. DIY Union Jack Liberty flag I had the idea to make my own DIY Union Jack flag from my…

The one thing I have missed (after seeing family and friends) is taking part in craft classes and workshops in person. I have missed the opportunities that craft classes and events give me to try new things. With no Handmade Fair, no Knitting & Stitching Show or in person workshops it feels a long time since I got together with other crafters to make and learn. Of course many events have carried on online but I was reluctant to spend an evening looking at my laptop after a day at work. Easter Made Easy Craft-Along However when I spotted an…

I love to start the week by writing Five Happy Things. It’s a chance for me to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures – it’s a post I always enjoy writing. I found last week a little tough. I had an interview for a job I really wanted, but didn’t get. Rejection can be so tough, especially professionally. Onwards and upwards though, today is another week. Five Happy Things {Week 247} Thanks to Sports Day and an Inset Day, I only worked…

Happy Monday everyone. Hope you had a great weekend despite the Autumnal weather. Each week I start off by writing my Monday mindfulness – 5 happy things blog post. It’s a great chance to reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures – it’s a post I always enjoy writing. Monday mindfulness – 5 happy things I was so happy to receive an email saying I had been voted as one of the Top 10 Craft Blogs by Vuelio again. I couldn’t live without making something every day…

I love starting off each week by writing my Monday mindfulness – 5 happy things blog post. It’s a great chance to reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week. Monday mindfulness – 5 happy things Last week my husband took a few day off work so we could re-decorate my daughters bedroom. It looks amazing and didn’t take as long as we thought. We painted the whole room white and put up a patterned wallpaper on one wall. I love a freshly decorated room and my daughter is happy too. We took the opportunity to…

Welcome Monday! It was lovely having a slow weekend to re-charge our batteries. We baked, we walked in the woods, we crafted and watched films. It was bliss. Monday mindfulness – 5 happy things Our Christmas holidays lasted part way through the week so we were able to squeeze in one last day out at BrickLive Christmas. The kids loved playing with all the Lego and you can read my review of it here. I think my children were happy to go back to school. Fortunately it was only a 3 day week for them. This week will be tough…

Today we were walking to school and my children berated me for our lack of Halloween decorations! I was pretty loathe to give up my day decorating, especially as I thought the Halloween decorations I picked up a few weeks ago in poundworld were brilliant. Clearly I needed to up my game to impress the 5 and 7 year old. A few weeks ago I bought a laser cut MDF spider web online. I thought I would use it to make my own Halloween wreath. I gave it two coats of white paint which took ages – if I try this…

Week 159 of my weekly Monday happy things post, about the things which have me happy. Last week was really busy, and the week-end was too. I’m hoping for some quieter time to get ready for half term. Only 2 parent evenings, after school clubs and homework to get through first! Monday mindfulness {5 happy things} I think that Facebook has a lot to blame for my purchasing recently. Someone mentioned that Orla Kiely had designed two exclusive bags for The Royal British Legion. I found them on the Poppy Shop and just had to buy them. Jute bags are…
