On Sunday we spent a lovely day exploring Kew Gardens. I love watching how curious my children are about the things they see and there was plenty to see and do at Kew. Having children has definitely made me more aware of the changing seasons and over the last couple of weeks we’ve enjoyed watching the garden spring to life.
Whilst we were at Kew the children collected pocketfuls of pine cones. They’ve been sitting on our nature table but I thought we should make something with them and decided on pine cone spiders.
This is a great craft as the supplies are basic: pine cones, pipe cleaners and googly eyes.
How to make a pine cone spider
Cut your pipe cleaners in half and twist around the scales of the pine cone and around the other side to make the legs.
Repeat this 4 times as I’m reliably informed by my 4 year old that everyone knows spiders have 8 legs.
Add a pair of googly eyes.
Pine cone spiders are great for hiding around the house and garden, even better if they frighten Little Sis!
