Peep Peep! Remote Control Thomas

Posted on May 20, 2014April 29, 2017 by jenny

My 2 year old is very curious about the world and has been having great fun with a RC Thomas she was sent from Fisher-Price. It’s a great toy for developing motor skills and allows her to use trial and error to master the simple buttons on the remote control and move Thomas around.

RC Thomas

This is a very simple toy. The remote control unit takes 3 batteries, Thomas takes 3 batteries, and there’s a small on/off button underneath Thomas. The remote control has two buttons which enable you to move Thomas forward and backwards. Thomas is also full of sayings, we counted 10 such as “Hello, it’s Thomas”, “Let’s keep steaming along!”, “Cinders and ashes, this is fun!” and “You’re a really useful engine driver”.

This Fisher-Price RC Thomas is very similar to the Thomas Steam ‘n Speed we were sent a couple of years ago. Both Thomas and the remote control are smaller, the remote control only has 2 buttons and Thomas doesn’t make steam (although this feature soon stopped working on the Thomas Steam ‘n Speed).

RC Thomas

Both my children have plenty of experience of using remote controlled toys as my husband has remote control cars, planes and helicopters and they’re been allowed to use these under his supervision. So they found the Fisher Price RC Thomas easy to use. It’s a very simple toy so perfect for ages 18+months and great for little Thomas fans.

What is it about Thomas? My daughter loves him too. I’d bet she’d love something that uses a remote. It would be like magic or something.

My son had a remote control car ages ago but I think he was too young for it (he’s 27mths). He loves Thomas & this looks fab so it will be going on his Christmas list 🙂 x

My boys love Thomas… and remote controls! They have some controls that don’t have a toy any longer and pretend to control each other with them 😉 I’m glad your little one is having fun!

I tend to steer clear of remote control toys because my little ones can never seem to use them properly and get frustrated! Maybe I’ve just been buying the wrong types of toys! These look relatively easy to use! Like the fact that your hubby has lots of ‘toys’ hehe x

Mine have never really been into remote control toys. My eldest had about 4 on his shelf for years that he never played with. I finally gave them away last year to younger family members who would play with them!

This really brings me back the years as my first remote control car was thomas the tank engine.

I grew up playing with RC cars and now it’s part of my actual day job lol. Huge industry and despite what many think, lots of adults (inc myself) still race rc cars. It’s a big hobby. And like most hobbies, they can be quite expensive.

If you’re thinking about buying one for your son/daughter, it’s important that you look at reliable brands such as Maisto which are well rated by other users. Some can also be extremely expensive
