Paper Hearts and Summer Kisses by Carole Matthews

Paper Hearts and Summer Kisses by Carole Matthews cover

I’m really enjoying reading books at the moment and the latest good read is the lovely Paper Hearts and Summer Kisses by Carole Matthews. I haven’t read anything by this author before but it’s her 29th book so I’m not sure which rock I’ve been hiding under!

A heart-warming and poignant novel of romance, family and second chances, Paper Hearts and Summer Kisses is Sunday Times bestselling Carole Matthews at her outstanding best. Perfect for fans of Jill Mansell and Milly Johnson.

Christie Chapman is a single working mother who spends her days commuting to her secretarial job in London and looking after her teenage son, Finn. It can be tough just getting through the day but Christie has always found comfort in her love of crafting and any spare time she has is spent in her parents’ summerhouse working on her beautiful creations. From intricately designed birthday cards to personalised gifts, Christie’s flair for the handmade knows no bounds and it’s not long before opportunity comes knocking. All of a sudden Christie sees a different future for her and Finn – one full of hope and possibility, and if the handsome Max Alexander is to be believed, one full of love too. It’s all there for the taking.

And then, all of sudden, Christie’s world is turned upside down.

Christie knows that something has to give, but what will she choose? Will she give up her dreams and the chance of real love? What price will she pay for doing the right thing? Can Christie find her happy ending in . . . Paper Hearts and Summer Kisses.

I picked this book to read as it mentioned the main character was a crafty person. I can count the books I’ve read with a crafty setting on one hand so thought this would be fun, and it was. The book has everything you would expect – a hard done by heroine, a good looking out-of-reach male character, ups and downs. I really enjoyed it and couldn’t put it down!

I love the fact that the main characters are inspired by people the author knows. And if you take a look at Carole Matthews website she writes about her own crafty activities too! I would definitely recommend Paper Hearts and Summer Kisses by Carole Matthews if you are looking for a good book to read. It’s already out in hardback but will be published in paperback on 6th April, priced £7.99. Thanks to NetGalley for giving me a copy to read.

Sounds like an unusual plot which makes it more interesting than another book. Good book for reading on holiday
