With just one day left at school and work we have been keeping our after school activities to a minimum. Our usual clubs have continued until today, which have made for two very tired and grumpy children. Thankfully I find that a craft or two keeps them calm after school so we have been having lots of fun with festive crafts, including a fun paper gingerbread house activity from Mrs Mactivity.

You all know how much I love a gingerbread house so I couldn’t resist printing some of the these gingerbread house activity sheets off to use at home. There were two versions: a colour version to cut out and stick together, as well as a template to colour in yourself.

My children love colouring, it’s always a great excuse to use their collection of colouring pens and pencils!

it also makes for a really mindful activity. Whilst they are concentrating I can ask them about their day, and they often tell me much more than they would doing any other kind of activity.

After they had finished colouring in the gingerbread houses, I helped them round each one, and we stuck them together.

It was a simple craft activity but great for keeping them calm before the madness of the holidays begins tomorrow.
