Last weekend my 11 year old decided to build one of the gingerbread house kits I picked up for my gingerbread gift guide. There are always so many to choose from, every supermarket seems to produce their own.  He decided to build the M&S food Christmas gingerbread house kit, and it’s not hard to see why!

Available in store, the M&S gingerbread house kit lets you make your own gingerbread house. It comes with gingerbread biscuits cut to size, a tube of white icing to make a lovely snowy frosting and colourful jelly tots for those all-important Christmas lights.

Ready made gingerbread pieces make it so easy to build. There was even a handy tray to keep the gingerbread house pieces together once iced. He followed the instructions, icing along each edge and holding the pieces together until it was safe to let go. There were four walls and two roof pieces so the simplest construction.

The icing pen came with different sizes of nozzle so you could pick a larger one to construct it, then smaller nozzles to decorate it with white icing. My son decided to follow the instructions, adding jelly tops on the roof, and icing around the windows and door.

The activity kept him busy for about an hour and he was pleased with the finished gingerbread house kit. We kept it for a couple of days before we decided to break it apart and eat it.

The gingerbread house smelled amazing and tasted really good. We kept it in a box for a few days but it’s all gone now! The M&S Christmas gingerbread house kit costs £5.50 and is available in store only.
