This week I had a rare night out and I went to my first ‘bloggers’ event: Victorinox Presents Bloggers Delight. I headed to the Victorinox flagship store on New Bond Street to view their new Autumn/Winter 2010 collection. On arrival we were greeted with a delicious choice of drinks and canapes (always a winner in my book!). We had an informal look round the three floors of the shop, viewing their collections of knives, luggage, clothing, perfume and watches. Victorinox is famous for supplying multi-purpose knives to the Swiss Army since 1891 but it is only recently that the brand…

Today we decided to take the Quinny Zapp Xtra out for a spin in central London. We wanted to go and visit an exhibition at the wonderful Museum of London where I worked a couple of years ago. Here’s my video of my husband unpacking the Quinny Zapp Xtra from the car and putting it together. [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1W6bkwMALH4&fs=1&hl=en_US&rel=0] As you can see it’s really easy to unpack and put together. We spent some time in the Museum of London before we had lunch then went for a stroll around Smithfield and did some geocaching. Edward was so comfortable that he slept…

Edward has been showing signs of teething for months: dribbling, chewing his fingers and waking during the night where he previously slept through. Some mums at the mother and baby groups I go to mentioned amber teething necklaces. Apparently they are a natural analgesiac and can help with teething pains. They are quite affordable so I decided to get one for Edward and one for myself! Unfortunately it hasn’t made any difference to his or my own teething pains – although they look quite stylish! Teething makes him dribble so I made him some dribble bibs to stop his eczema…

Today I went to the Knitting and Stitching Show at Ally Pally. It is literally on my doorstep and I have been going for the last couple of years because it’s a great place to get inspired and stock up on sewing essentials. Every year I seem to visit the same stands and buy things that I never use. So this year I am going to show you them in the vain hope I will complete the projects before next years’ Knitting and Stitching Show! I’ve also added them to my Day Zero list so I have a deadline of…

I’m feeling a bit down today as I took Edward out in the new Quinny Zapp Xtra and it fell over with him in it. Quinny said we should be honest in our reviews so I’m going to let you know what happened. I decided to test drive the Quinny on public transport and put our Maxi-Cosi car seat on the Quinny base. We got on the bus and I parked the Quinny in the pram area and put the brake on. Edward was asleep so I sat in the seat nearest to him. On the journey I noticed that…

A while ago I bought Edward a beanbag chair but he never looked very comfortable sitting on it. So over the weekend I refashioned the beanbag into a large cushion using some lovely alphabet fabric from my Cath Kidston stash! Much happier (honest!).

Today we all sat down to our first Sunday roast since Edward was born. As mentioned yesterday our roast chicken was eaten with roast potatoes, roast parsnips and yorkshire puddings from Aunt Bessie’s range. This was one of the easiest (and tastiest!) meals I have prepared in a long time and allowed me plenty of time to tweet my progress using the hashtag #hostaroast if you follow me on twitter. It was also really lovely to sit down in our dining room and not eat in front of the tv as we usually do. We also took the opportunity to…

We were given an opportunity to test some Aunt Bessie products. As a busy mummy I SEIZED this opportunity – we love Aunt Bessie products and I’m happy to reduce my time in the kitchen so I can spend more time with my family. My husband and I also realised we had not sat down to a roast since Edward was born! Today we spent some time in the biggest food shop we could find, searching the shelves for Aunt Bessie products. There was a wider range than I had anticipated and we purchased homestyle roast potatoes, irresistable yorkshire puddings,…

We took the Quinny Zapp Xtra out today for the first time. We had plans to meet a friend for lunch so hopped on the tube to the other side of London. We had a lovely walk along the Thames, lunch in a great pub, followed by a spot of shopping. The Quinny did us proud, easily managing the tube system, escalators and lifts. We weaved in and out of the people at a busy shopping centre and hung our shopping bags off the handles (even though you’re not meant to!).
