    Simplify your Christmas

Having worked for the largest international humanitarian organisation for the last 6 years I know that every little helps. I’ve been able to see exactly how well run campaigns can make a huge difference to those in need, which is why I am happy to support the Oxfam Unwrapped initiative. Since 2004 Oxfam has encouraged people to purchase unique Christmas presents which improve the livelihoods, health and education of people all across the world. I’ve always recycled wrapping paper (something I learned from my nanny!) and generally try to recycle magazines, envelopes and circulars where possible. Every year I also…

    A young Heat fan

I took 22 videos today of Edward as I’ve been trying to capture him moving from sitting to crawling. In the process I’ve taken video of him playing with his toys, shopping in Tesco’s and on the car ferry. He’s been eyeing up my changing bag for a while but today he finally got hold of it and had a good look. He also grabbed my (un-read) copy of Heat. We’re blaming Nanny for his love of magazines as yesterday she gave him a magazine which he quickly shredded – now no magazine is safe! We're still loving the Flip

My youngest niece (aged 6) spotted the Flip in my bag and wanted to record her favourite cousin, so take a look at her efforts… [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D3N9E2EM5iw&fs=1&hl=en_US] My sulky teenage (14 years old) niece also took a video but it was mainly of herself! Both loved using the Flip Ultra as it so easy to use. This evening I edited the clip as I didn’t think anyone needed to see my husband’s builders bum in the background. It’s so easy to edit I think Edward could manage it. Day 2 and we’re still loving the Flip!

    Flip Ultra

Following my Lady GaGa moment I have been sent a lovely Flip Ultra to review for a week. A week doesn’t seem a long time but Edward seems to learn a new skill every day so I am challenging myself to make a video of him every day and use my poor neglected YouTube account. The last couple of days we have been visiting my poor father in law who fell 12 feet off a ladder. Whilst staying in a hotel Edward seemed to practically roll over and stand up simultaneously! I’m looking forward to trying to capture these gymnastics.…

    EVOKE Mio by Orla Kiely

Ooooh, a lovely new product from Orla Kiely! Fortunately I CAN resist this beautiful new EVOKE Mio by Orla Kiely because I already have a lovely Cath Kidston digital radio. However, loyal readers will know that I can’t pass up an opportunity to feature the latest Orla Kiely product (even if I don’t need it myself!). The radio is the latest product in the Orla Kiely home ware range and features her popular stem print design. It has a scary number of features which include digital and FM radio, an input for your iPod/MP3 player, Intellitext and textSCAN, an…

    QuinnyCasters News #7

When the people at Dorel (who own the Quinny brand) heard that the Quinny Zapp Xtra fell over with the Maxi-Cosi car seat they recalled the chassis to take a look at it. It was examined at the service centre and fully inspected and tested by their Head Engineer. No faults were found with the chassis or breaking system and everything works as it should. I’m not sure whether I’m pleased or not. I expected it to have a fault as surely a pushchair would not be made which could not support the weight of the car seat it is…

    Christmas comes early

When Edward was just three weeks old my husband had emergency surgery for a diverticular abcess. The pain came really quickly and was undiagnosed for a week before suddenly a blood test revealed what was wrong with him and he was rushed into hospital. It was a strange time in our life. We felt like we should be celebrating the safe arrival of our new baby whilst in reality we were separated and I was visiting my husband in hospital twice a day. That was back in April and after several weeks convalescing my husband was able to return to…

    Italian cooking magic

Pesto is a little bit of Italian cooking magic that Sacla have very close to their hearts. Pesto is perfect with pasta but can also be added to meat, fish and vegetables. Apparently a combination of freshly picked basil and Grana Padano cheese is the secret behind every recipeĀ  and all the sauces are made in Italy. I was recently sent three of their pesto sauces to try. Classic Basil Pesto We usually buy this when we fancy something simple for dinner. We stir it through pasta and eat it with plenty of garlic bread – yummy. The classic green…

    Feeling the love

Today my little blog was featured on the Stokke Lovers blog and Facebook page all due to our love of our Tripp Trapp. I was so happy I took a screen shot: I was also lucky enough to be featured on the Miffy UK Facebook page for our recent video review of the lovely Miffy Rattle Car.   Both features brought me a few new visitors so I hope you will stick around!
