Our Olympic tickets finally arrived yesterday and we found out what we’re going to see – synchronized swimming! I’m excited but the husband isn’t. He muttered something about wanting to see the BMX racing to which I muttered grumpy old man or killjoy, something along those lines. Despite having the un-sportiest husband in the world he has mentioned more than once how we need to fully enjoy the upcoming Olympic Games, specifically by getting one of these smart TVs . He’s a bit of a gadget geek and has all the latest gadgets, not that he has much time to…

Warner Brothers asked if we would like to review Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close. I was a bit unsure about watching a film connected to 9/11 but was intrigued by the stellar cast and director. Adapted from the acclaimed bestseller by Jonathan Safran Foer, “Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close” is a story that unfolds from inside the young mind of Oskar Schell, an inventive eleven year-old New Yorker whose discovery of a key in his deceased father’s belongings sets him off on an urgent search across the city for the lock it will open. A year after his father died…

I’m quite looking forward to Wimbledon starting next week as for me that’s when summer starts. I was thinking how nice it would be to have some summery cupcakes to eat whilst watching the tennis and came up with these. Easy Wimbledon cupcakes For the cupcakes I tried Dr Oetker’s Shake it! Vanilla Fairy Cake Mix as I was baking with the toddler. The mix is fantastic as you simply add milk and shake. Easy peasy. After the cakes had cooled I mixed up some royal icing. I seem to have mastered it so am now using it for everything!…

One of my Day Zero actions was to set up an online shop to sell my vintage finds. I set one up months ago, have boxes full of lovely vintage things to sell but am nowhere nearer to actually photographing and listing items than I was then. I’m not sure why I thought an online shop would be a good idea. It’s not as if I have oodles of spare time but it would definitely help justify the time and money spent in some of my favourite charity shops! I have some lovely things to sell and I don’t think…

Our June film from the Tots100 Film Club was Where the Wild Things Are rated PG. My sister and niece recently came to stay and I thought this would be a great family film to sit down and watch. However, we sat down and attempted to watch the film 3 times but we never finished watching it. We just didn’t enjoy it and it failed to catch the imagination of my toddler, 8 year old niece, myself and my older sister. I can’t put my finger on why we didn’t enjoy the film as the synopsis sounds magical. Where the…

As part of my role as a morphy richards innovator we have been trying out a new kettle and toaster from the new Colour Boutique range. Morphy Richards know the importance of colour when it comes to home interiors and adding a splash of colour with striking appliances can be a cost effective way to refresh your kitchen. Our kitchen is a bit of a mix of colours so we chose the orange kettle and toaster from the vibrant range as we both love orange. The first thing we noticed was that the colour on the website and box did…

The Olympics are such a big event that I really want to make sure we experience as much as we can living in London. Yes, we have tickets for some events, if the tickets ever turn up, but there are plenty of other things we can do too. Today we ventured into London to spend some time at one of our favourite playgrounds – Coram’s Fields. It’s only a short walk from Kings Cross so it’s perfect little day trip if we want to leave Zone 3 for a couple of hours. Whilst we were out we went train spotting…

My piles of vintage board games have inspired me to make Scrabble tile biscuits! The children are too young for Scrabble but I thought we could make something special for Father’s Day. Today I’m showing you how to make Scrabble tile biscuits! How to make Scrabble tile biscuits I followed the recipe for simple plain biscuits from the Biscuiteer Book of Iced Biscuits and cut them all the same size. They cooked quickly and had a lovely colour. I sampled the less-than-perfect ones which tasted pretty yummy. After they had cooled I prepared the royal icing, drawing a line…
