I know I say it every week but that was a blooming busy weekend! Time to sit down and take stock of the last 7 days in my weekly Happy List post. My son got a new bed which he’s been really excited about. It’s one of those mid-sleeper ones with storage and a desk underneath the bed. I couldn’t believe my husband bought it a few days before my son’s birthday, especially as it meant helping to build it when I should have been finishing off making his presents! My son turned 6 on Friday and celebrated with a…

On Wednesday we took part in a Twitter party for Blaze and the Monster Machines. The children love taking part in Twitter parties and this was a fun one as we got to see the latest Blaze and the Monster Machine toys, as well as take part in some fun STEM activities. Blaze knows everything about science, technology, engineering and maths. When things get really tough he can use his scientific know-how to transform himself into any machine. During the Twitter party we took part of four educational STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) focussed activities, and played with lots of new Blaze…

Now regular readers will know I love subscription boxes. There’s nothing better than a little box dropping on to your doormat that contains something nice. A while ago I came across Pocket and Pin on Instagram who sell modern vintage haberdashery. Their Habdash Sub Box caught my eye so when I saw they had produced one with a Coastal theme I snapped one up. It arrived yesterday in a little white cardboard box. Carefully wrapped in tissue paper was a lovely bundle of craft supplies. There was a selection of ribbons – one with seagulls, a white polka dot on…

My children are the perfect age to be totally enthralled by the adventures of Tim Peake. It doesn’t feel that long ago since my daughter and I watched Tim Peake on his way to the International Space Station. A few times my 5 year old has come back from school and mentioned Tim Peake so I am pleased they are discussing him at school. Penguin Random House UK Children’s are publishing a new picture book that has been produced in collaboration with the European Space Agency and astronaut Tim Peake. I knew my children would love this story and I was…

My children have been the lucky recipients of some amazing toys lately. Today I wanted to tell you about the latest addition to the Disney Pixar Cars range, the new Disney Pixar Cars Drop and Jump Gray Transporter Playset from Mattel. Inspired by the Disney Pixar Cars 2 film, this playset features Gray who is The King’s big rig hauler/transporter. This toy opens up to be a fun playset, perfect on its own but you can buy other Story Sets and make a huge racing track for your die cast cars. Gray doesn’t come with a die cast vehicle but…

Happy Friday everyone, today I’m sharing a simple way to use your Sizzix Big Shot Plus to make an Easter treat bag. We love organising an Easter Egg Hunt. We have wooden signs to hang up and little chick decorations to place around the garden. Each child has their own colour of eggs to look for so I thought I would make them their own Easter treat bags to hold them in. I used my Sizzix Big Shot Plus and the Sizzix Bigz Alphabet Uppercase Die – Sassy Serif Letter “E” and “N” to cut out the letters. Pop on over to the Sizzix…

I saw the cutest little Easter bunny on the cover of a recent issue of Mollie Makes and knew I would have to stitch my own. It needed some things I didn’t have in my crafting supplies so I ordered a doll needle, extra strong thread and the woven wool fabric. Stitching an Easter bunny I cut out the templates, using some left over cotton fabric from the Mr Fox and pals kit which was the latest cover gift, then cut out my fabric. Then I just kept looking at all the pieces and didn’t know where to start. I…

Sometimes my children ask to make things which I never think about . This shouldn’t surprise me as they love to craft and bake and it’s always fun to try something new. The other day my daughter asked to make bread which scared me a little as I normally stick to cakes and biscuits. She had found a recipe in her Paddington Annual which she kept asking to make. Thankfully my husband offered to help her as he is the baker of the family. Baking bear buns To make 12 bear buns we needed strong white bread flour, yeast, salt,…
