Today the sun is shining at long last. It even feels a tiny bit warm but ssshh, I don’t want to jinx the weather just yet. With a touch of Spring in the air I thought it was a great time to have some after school fun with my daughter and create a hand print bird. She loves to use her hands and I think this kind of craft makes a great seasonal keepsake too. Are you doing anything for International Women’s Day tomorrow? I think 2018 is a great year to celebrate the importance of women everywhere. I love that there is already so much going on for Vote 100, celebrating 100 years since some women got the vote. The daily news show that there is still a long way to go for women to gain equality with men, but I’m excited that things are moving in the right direction. I’m determined to raise a strong girl and I’m sure she is a little bored of me banging on about feminism all the time!…

Down on the farm there’s a terrible pong. (Well the animals are pooing there all day long!) SPLAT! What’s that? It’s a big cow pat. Farmer Jill is well aware of the ecological benefits that animal excrements can have for farmland. But she just can’t keep on top of it all, especially the phantom flying poo. But all suspicions firmly point to the rooster… Cock-a-doodle-poo! is a side-splitting, rhyming, riot packed full of toots, poops, plops and parps from award-winning author Steve Smallman and illustrator Florence Weiser. This poop-packed extravaganza is the perfect read for fans of Poo in the…

We have been pretty excited about the launch of the new Sylvanian Families Town range for a while now. On Friday we were finally able to see the whole range at our local toy shop. Both my children were so excited to see everything and Little Sis immediately bought the Sylvanian Families Town Chocolate Lounge set with her pocket money. You can see her unboxing over on our YouTube channel. We were so lucky to be sent the Sylvanian Families Town Delicious Restaurant and Stella, the Chocolate Rabbit older sister figure. We made unboxing videos of both of these which you can…

I’m just a little bit glad that last week is over. It started snowing on Monday, through Tuesday and Wednesday and Thursday, then it stopped. Of course school was closed on Friday which made no sense to me as the snow had stopped and we could get to school really easily. We used the unexpected day off to go looking for painted rocks and hiding some of the ones we’ve decorated recently, and had fun playing in the snow. Monday mindfulness – 5 happy things Monday started off well with a visit to my daughter’s school from Tom Fletcher. He’s…

Can you believe this time next week we’ll be celebrating Mother’s Day? Now that the snow has melted my thoughts have been turning to Mother’s Day. It’s a fun day to honour the women in our lives. I can’t resist making a handmade card with the kids and I have to admit that we made ours last week when we were stuck indoors due to the snow. The weather gave me plenty of time to look for ideas for handmade cards and gifts to make this Mother’s Day. Mother”s Day falls on Sunday 11th March here in the UK but…

Where did February go. I love February but it just whizzed past, March is here and I’m feeling a little disorganised about it! I received some lovely mail last month, including the February Signs of the Sewdiac box. This is a new subscription box for crafters, based on the Signs of the Zodiac. I really enjoyed the January box so signed up for the February box too. It arrived last week and contained a craft kit which I was excited to receive. Signs of the Sewdiac subscription box The theme for the February box was scissors, so the contents were…

Do you ever wonder how you’ve ended up with so many craft supplies? The house is full so we have been trying hard to use some up lately, especially as the snowy weather has kept us inside. Everything has been very pretty but WHITE. To bring some colour into our life we had fun with a large box of ready made pom poms. The children have been using them for all sorts of things – mainly covering their Sylvanian Families play scenes in snow! I thought I could keep them busy by getting them to sort the colours and making…

Last week I told you about the Book of Dust Volume 1: La Belle Sauvage. Today I’m telling you about another book I would recommend The Austen Escape by Katherine Reay. Back in 2015 I read The Bronte Plot, also by Katherine Reay, which I really loved. so I was pretty excited to hear she’s written another book as I really enjoyed her style. The Austen Escape by Katherine Reay I received a copy of The Austen Escape by Katherine Reay via NetGalley. I had trouble downloading it initially but had another go and read it in a few days. Sometimes I forget…
