New Year recycled bells craft for New Year

New Year bells craft for kids

Posted on December 30, 2016 by jenny

I can’t mark the passing of an old year and the start of a new year without making something. Our recycling bin is full so I took the opportunity to rescue a couple of yoghurt pots and tin foil from it. I think it’s the perfect time of year to squeeze in a craft or two. I’ve added links to our other New Years crafts at the bottom of this post, just in case you are feeling inspired!

New Year bells craft for kids

A few years ago we made paper bells to mark the New Year. Our updated version uses yoghurt pots so raid the recycling box for a couple of yoghurt pots and grab the aluminium foil to make these yoghurt pot bells!

We used:
Washed and dried yoghurt pots
Aluminium foil
Scissors
Ribbon

Cut a piece of foil, about 20cm x 20cm. Place the pot in the centre of it and roughly trim the corners off – this is to prevent bulk.

Fold the foil around the bell, pressing it flat.

Make a hole on the top of the pot using scissors or a scalpel. Thread a length of ribbon through the hole to hang your bells.

That’s so cute, and well done you for having the energy to create something on New Year’s Day. I can just about create a cup of tea today and that’s my limit.
