New Lego experience at Hamleys London

This morning I popped into the West End to attend an exclusive unveiling of the NEW Lego floor at Hamleys, Regent Street. My children love Hamleys which is the largest and oldest toy shop in the world.

Being slap bang in the middle of Regent Street means that Hamleys is usually super busy, especially at the weekend. Set over 7 floors it’s a really fun place to visit, especially for kids. As Lego celebrates it’s 60th anniversary this year it seems well-tiles for Hamleys to give it’s Lego area a makeover. We’ve visited the Lego area before but it was definitely time for a re-fresh.

New Lego experience at Hamleys London

The Lego section can be found on the 5th floor of Hamleys and kids young and old will be delighted with the new Lego experience at Hamleys London. Hamleys have to compete with the Lego Store in Leicester Square and they have tried hard to bring their space up to date.

Don’t worry – they haven’t got rid of our favourite brick model of Queen Elizabeth. I was delighted to see she was still there. As well as my old favourite there are two exciting building spaces for kids to get creative (one with Duplo bricks and one with Lego bricks). There is also a really fun treasure hunt for older kids to follow around the Lego section. Called The Cunning Heist Around Hamleys, you can help Sherlock find the Crown Jewels. You need to follow the trail of magnifying glasses and read the clues you find. This will take you around the displays of Lego and you will find the Lego Crown Jewels.

Alongside the building area and treasure hunt you can also take selfies next to the London landmarks of a red bus and Big Ben. You can also have fun creating with bricks on the back of the London bus or in the Lego Friends section.

You’ll spot some smaller Lego models around the store and of course you can shop for all your favourite Lego sets, or pick up the exclusive Royal Guard minifigure.

I loved scanning myself with the new high tech device to find out which Lego mini figure you are. Sadly I was a basketball player, I think I would have preferred to be a Lego women of NASA figure!

Finally, if you have any energy left you can download the Lego in store action app. This is a free Augmented Reality Lego photo app which lets you scan special Lego posters in selected stores. Scanning the posters will reveal an animated Lego Minifigure in your viewfinder, allowing you to meet and take a photo with some of your favourite characters. Also, all photos can be saved to your camera roll so you can share the moments with family and friends.
