Christmas gingerbread house sewing

Monthly makes – September

July and August were pretty busy months with my children on their break from nursery and school so I didn’t have much free time to make many things. They are both happily back at school now though and I have had some grown up crafting time.

My Monthly makes for September

First up is this cool felt gingerbread house from a pattern in this years’ Mollie Makes Christmas. I was a little disappointed with the magazine as it contained a lot less patterns than last year and many of the projects were taken from the free cover gifts or previous projects published in the magazine. I imagine it is expensive to produce these bookazines but I think it’s a little cheeky to reproduce so much content.

The felt gingerbread house was from a simple pattern by Pygmy Cloud. I wanted to use up some of my felt stash so used colours I already had, making a colourful pink roof.

I also didn’t have any Copydex glue (and haven’t seen any since school!) so opted to machine stitch around the roof to keep the different pieces in place. It’s a cute little project and only took a couple of hours.

I also took part in Round 7 of the Very Berry Handmade ATC swap. The theme was my favourite … so I made a sweet tiny quilt of colourful hexagons.

I’ve been making slow progress with my Shipping Forecast quilt. I think it will be a fun project and keep me going through the winter months.

I’ve also been thinking about what to make for the Paper and String Handmade Christmas Decoration Swap. Last year I made 3 ornaments and received 3 in return and really enjoyed it. I’ve been adding to my felt board on Pinterest and can’t wait to start sewing.
