I completely failed to make as many handmade gifts as I wanted too this year. As I got nearer and nearer to Christmas I persuaded myself to move items from my little handmade list into next year! Which means instead of rushing to make things I will be able to spend more time making handmade gifts in the New Year.
There’s not much to report in my Monthly Makes. I made one wall hanging for my sister which I can finally share with you. I used a pattern from Home Quilt Home by Janet Clare, which is one of my favourite craft books of 2014. My sister loves the beach so it seemed a good choice to make a wall hanging with beach huts and seagulls. I hand tied it so it came together quite quickly. I also made the binding by just bringing the backing fabric to the front which is one of my favourite ways to cope with binding.
I finished the gingerbread house quilt block I was making for a collaborative quilt. I hand quilted around the windows and doors and stitched in to the other 7 squares.
This month I have picked up the Union flag quilt for my daughter again. You can just about see a pattern beginning to form (I hope!). I bought some more fabric for this project so I’m hoping it will really grow during January.
I admit I’m a little disappointed with my makes but I shouldn’t be too hard on myself as it was December.
