Monday Mindfulness – 5 Happy Things

building a gingerbread house

Happy Monday everyone. Hope you had a great weekend. Each week I start off by writing my Monday mindfulness – 5 happy things blog post. It’s a great chance to reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures – it’s a post I always enjoy writing.

Monday mindfulness – 5 happy things

I passed my Probation period at work! I can’t believe I’ve been in my job for 5 months now. I am getting used to it and although my role is constantly changing I feel like I am surviving and doing my best. I work with a great team and don’t think I would get through the day without our chats in the staff room.

Last week I went to not one, but two, Nativity plays. My daughter had her Year 2 Nativity and was a cow girl. My son was an Inn Keeper in his Year 4 Nativity. They both behaved really well and I felt really lucky to be able to go and watch them perform. Hopefully the last week of school will be a little more relaxed for both of them. They are so tired but excited for Christmas, and I can’t wait to finish work on Friday and start the Christmas holidays with them.

We are having so much hiding our Elf on the Shelf this year. They have already done lots of naughty things, such as spray painting their names on the fish tank! Yesterday we played a trick on them which went down sooo well! You can do it too, just search for “Elf on the Shelf trapped in tv” on YouTube and you can play an hour long video showing your elf stuck in the tv. My children thought it was hilarious and it was nice and easy to set up too.

Somehow we managed to squeeze in our annual gingerbread house build. This year we bought a kit from Ikea (it’s a family tradition!) and had fun decorating the pieces and putting it together. As well as the gingerbread house we also bought a special decorating kit (icing tubes and sprinkles) and glue. This meant everything came together really easily and now our house smells very Christmassy.

Yesterday we visited the Duck Pond Market in Ruislip to stock up on Christmas treats. We all love visiting the market and bumped into lots of our friends. We always make sure to buy pesto cheese and also bought some mulled cider! It all felt really Christmassy.

Have a great week everyone.

Sounds like you have had a good week and loving the Elf on the Shelf in the TV – very clever. I have my sons nativity tomorrow and can’t wait
