Monday mindfulness – Summer holidays {Week 1}

Posted on July 30, 2018August 1, 2018 by jenny

Happy Monday everyone. Hope you had a great weekend and are enjoying the start of the school summer holidays. The weather has been a little too hot for us so I’m so happy that the temperature has dropped AND we’ve had rain. Each week I start off by writing my Monday mindfulness – 5 happy things blog post. It’s a great chance to reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures – it’s a post I always enjoy writing.

Monday mindfulness – 5 Happy Things

My son spent the week at a local Youth Club. I wasn’t too sure how he would get on but he seems to have enjoyed himself. He did baking, played computer games and did lots of other activities. It was subsidised by our local borough which made it really affordable. He said he would be happy to go another year which I take as a big thumbs up. My youngest and I spent a lot of time in the park next to the Youth Club. There was a stream and park so we played in the stream and picked a lot of blackberries.

We’ve been sent some lovely toys to review recently and these have kept us busy during the first week of the Summer holidays. Last week we tried out some of the GraviTrax expansion sets, unboxed Poo-nicorns, and played with Incredibles 2 toys from the Disney Store.

We’ve crafted too. Just before the holidays started I placed an order with Baker Ross for some craft kits to keep my kids busy. We started some of them, including dotty dinosaur art and mosaic rainbows. They are perfect for my 6 year old and my 8 year old never likes to miss out on them either.

My 6 year old is already on Week 3 of the Summer Reading Challenge. She loves books and I signed up for quite a few of the Summer Reading Challenge events as well as the Challenge itself. Last week she attended a Dirty Bertie event which involved making mud pies! It was great for her to go along without her brother and she really enjoyed herself too.

We’ve enjoyed a few days away catching up with family and friends. It’s been good to get out of London for a few days, especially as the weather seems so much cooler.

It’s been a pretty good start to the Summer holidays! Have a great week.

    It sounds like you’re having a great start to the Summer holidays. They’re not kids for long are they, and they grow up so fast, it’s great to make as many memories as possible.

    I think youth clubs are amazing especially when they are funded. Sounds like your son had a great time
