Monday mindfulness – 5 Happy Things

Happy Monday everyone. Hope you had a great weekend. The weather has been lovely all week and we loved getting out for some family time this weekend. Each week I start off by writing my Monday mindfulness – 5 happy things blog post. It’s a great chance to reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures – it’s a post I always enjoy writing.

To be honest I felt a little blah all week. My exam invigilating has come to an end so I had more time on my hands than I knew what to do with. We passed on my daughter’s Ikea play kitchen which made me feel quite sad at the thought of her growing up. Luckily we have had fun reviewing some amazing new toys including Fantastic Gymnastics, the Sylvanian Families Ride Along Tram and the GraviTrax Starter Set (review coming soon). I’ve also written a few posts about fun things to do with the kids in London over the summer holidays.

We started the new week with a lovely trip to build dens in the woods with Beavers. We have a lovely old woodland on our doorstep but hardly ever go there. It was so much fun to head down there on a sunny evening and build dens. My daughter belongs to a lovely Beavers group and it was fun to be outdoors.

We’ve been pretty crafty too. I was sent a My Greeting Box to try out at home but we’ve also made lots and lots of squishies thanks to the magbook How to make your own Squishies & Slime. Pop on over to read what we thought of it and win a copy too. We also recreated our recent camping experience and made some campfire smores too – delicious!

On Saturday we headed out to North Weald for the Wings and Wheels model show. My husband loves this kind of thing and there was plenty to see and do to keep us busy all day. The weather was amazing and we went properly prepared with our camping chairs and a picnic so we could sit and watch the flying. My husband bought a small drone which he’s been having fun with. I was really glad we had packed our Suneez, a range of unbreakable kids’ sunglasses. They’re virtually indestructible and have polarised lenses with 100% UVA/UVB protection so that kids’ eyes are fully shielded from the sun.

Yesterday we visited the Dinosaurs in the Wild experience in London. We had a brilliant time learning all about dinosaurs and finished off with lunch at Five Guys and a trip back into London on the MBNA Thames Clipper.

Have a great week everyone!

Oh I love the sound of the den building! In this heat I tend to get a bit lazy by the time school’s over for the day but it’s so nice when you can make the effort to get out and do something outdoors.

Going back to nature is definitely one of the best ways to clear your mind! Hope you’re having a better week this week! 🙂
