I am so glad to see the back of January. We’ve had nothing but illness and last week both my children were off sick, on different days of course. They had completely different illnesses, my poor son has a lingering cough from the chicken pox he had a few weeks ago. He’s been coughing non-stop but unfortunately the doctor wasn’t able to give him anything for it. The broken nights have left me feeling like I’ve got a newborn again and I’m just hoping it clears before we all go away for half term!
Monday happy things – week 123
My child-free time was pretty restricted last week so I didn’t achieve much which I found really frustrating. I did quite a lot of papercutting, making the floral mandala from Mollie Makes Creativity as well as some free papercutting templates I found online. I’ve been planning a few sewing projects and popped into Dunelm Mill to look at the new range of Orla Kiely fabric. I also picked up some supplies at Hobbycraft, I just need some quiet time this week to make things!
My daughter made sure she was well enough to attend two birthday parties this weekend. Her class is so sociable and there are parties every weekend at the moment which makes my daughter happy. One had a theme of Princesses of Superheroes so she was very excited to go as Batman, even though all the girls were very pink princesses!
She has moved up a level in swimming, finally. Sadly this was due to her being too old for her previous swim class rather than her super swimming skills. She actually ended up with the same swimming teachers so I don’t think she noticed any different. Fingers crossed for some swimming progress soon!
We made it to the park at Northala Fields so my son could take his radio controlled car out. My husband has been busy fixing it after the last time and it was good to get out in the fresh air. There’s a lovely play park which kept the children busy too.

February 7, 2017 at 11:01 pmThink it’s important to enjoy swimming to see progress. I really hated it as a child! It’s wicked that your daughter was happy to stand out as batman. It shows her amazing character! I had a good January, but not feeling as happy this month which makes no sense lol hopefully perk up and illness is long gone for you! x
