Monday happy things

We survived Big Brother’s first term at Reception. This week we’ve had parties, lunches and just so much that I’m grateful for a 2 week holiday from all the running around. Let’s ignore the fact it’s Christmas and we have a household full of guests, at least I don’t have to go outside!

Over the weekend I made a wreath for the Winter solstice. I like it’s simplicity compared to our Christmas decorations, just a ring of intertwined branches and a string of lights. I placed it in the dining room and put one of my new house-shaped tea light holders in the middle which seemed fitting to mark the shortest day of the year.

I bought another Christmas jumper. You can never have too many, right?

We had a chilly ride on our local Santa Express which is one of our favourite Christmas traditions. This year Little Sis was too shy to tell Father Christmas what she wanted so her brother had to tell him. Just as we were leaving she shouted out that she wanted some Sylvanian Families toys, she clearly doesn’t want him to bring her the wrong toy!

I made personalised decorations for the children. My aim is to make them one every year. This year I made simple clay ornaments with the first letter of their names stamped on them.
