Mini butterfly sun catchers

The Summer holidays have started now Big Brother has finished school. We’ve been enjoying lazy mornings and lots of crafting. Luckily we were sent some lovely craft kits from Baker Ross and the children really enjoyed the mini butterfly sun catchers. It contained 12 butterfly sun catchers of four different designs and some ribbon to hang them. We used our fine tip porcelain and glass pens to colour them and I put down a plastic splash mat to protect my table (both from Baker Ross).

My children love to craft but I’m not always ready with ideas and materials for them to get their crafty fix. That’s why I love these craft kits. They are great value and contain enough pieces that they can make a few different items (especially if one goes wrong!).

The stained glass effect acrylic decorations were easy to decorate with the glass pens. The splash mat was really useful in keeping the table clean too.

Both children decorated four butterflies and we left them over night to dry completely. Each butterfly had a small hole at the top and we decided to thread them with a piece of twine to hang on our seasonal tree. Here’s hoping for the sun to come out so we can admire our colourful butterflies.
