I love patchwork …. I just need to finish a project!

Posted on August 25, 2011February 27, 2019 by jenny

I’ve had a long standing relationship with patchwork. I made my first patchwork quilt when I was 16 using the traditional method known as English paper piecing. There’s something really satisfying about cutting out paper templates, choosing fabrics and watching it all come together. I’ve started lots of patchwork projects since then but I haven’t finished many!

These medium sized hexagons look great when sewn together.

I love making these smaller hexagons but they are so time consuming!

They look good made into pincushions too.

I was thinking of sewing my patchwork pieces into some kind of crawling blanket for the Second Baby. I have 3 months – plenty of time 🙂 But then I wondered if it would just look too bitty and I’d love to make something that he/she will want to keep.

Cath Kidston is bringing out another book in her craft range called Patch! which I’m hoping will give me plenty of inspiration. I just need to get an early copy as it’s not out until the beginning of November and I won’t be taking a sewing bag into hospital with me, unlike last time!

Love patchwork and it’s something I always vow I’ll try, I just never get round to it! 🙁

Oh I think this is the method I used when I was doing my GSCE’s many moons ago. I’ve not tried it since…though I really admire patchwork and always love the effect it has.
I love the mix of colour and fabric that you have used, would love to see it finished 😉
