It seems a while since I got my Cricut out but I had an idea of something I wanted to make and had a fun afternoon crafting. I recently bought some vintage stoneware pots from eBay and knew that they would look great with my favourite quotations on them. The pots were in good condition and I picked one with the smoothest surface as I wanted to apply vinyl decals.

How to make vinyl decals with your Cricut
First of all I chose the words I wanted to making into my vinyl decal. I love the band Keane and chose the words “I open my eyes and it’s a lovely day” from Snowed Under.
I opened Cricut Design Space and typed the words into a new project, setting the size to fit round the side of my pot.
I wanted to use blank vinyl as I thought this would show the best against the colour of the pot. I placed the black vinyl onto the blue cutting mat and cut the design on the vinyl setting.
When it had finished cutting I carefully removed the vinyl and weeded it.
I applied Cricut Transfer Tape and placed it over the weeded design, scraping it with the scraper tool.
I peeled away the paper layer, placing the decal on the pot. Then I peeled the Transfer Tape slowly away, making sure the design stuck to the pot.
I smoothed the letters down with my fingers and placed my favourite flowers in my new pot.
