We’ve been pretty lucky with the weather this half term. We started the week with snow but today we barely needed coats. It’a lovely sign of the warmer weather to come. We spent the afternoon at the pretty village of Nunney which has an amazing castle we love to visit.
Nunney Castle is a picturesque moated medieval castle, dating from the 1370s. Built by Sir John de la Mare, it was modernised in the late 16th century. The castle was besieged and damaged by the Parliamentarians in 1645, during the English Civil War.
Though ruined, Nunney’s dramatic great tower is very well preserved. It has four round corner towers and connecting walls, all held within a castle moat. It’s free to visit and makes the perfect little castle to visit.
We’ve been out quite a bit over half term but I admit the children went a little crazy on our afternoon out. They ran around the castle and its drawbridge pretending to be soldiers and having lots of fun.
Our half term adventure gave me the perfect opportunity to try out my new Saltrock microfleece. I love to be warm and chose this as I knew the microfleece would be warm but not bulky. I’ve been wearing it ever since it arrived as it’s perfect for this time of year. It currently has 50% off so was a bargain too!
