Over the last week we’ve been trying out the new Cooking with Kids app in association with Tesco. It’s from Great British Chefs, a food brand that connects food lovers and promotes some of the best chefs in the UK through their website and range of mobile apps.
Great British Chefs
The new Cooking with Kids app (free and available at the app store for iPhone or iPad) is packed with over 100 recipes from 21 of the top chefs in the UK. Each recipe contains step by step instructions and tips, plus 25 easy to follow child friendly videos to guide you through techniques like ‘How To Use a Gelatine Leaf’ and ‘ How to Work with Filo Pastry’.
Great British Chefs – yummy vegetable lasagne
We wanted to try out one of the winter recipes and picked vegetable lasagne as we all love anything with pasta. I printed out the recipe and went shopping, finding everything but the kale (I substituted cabbage instead). When we got home we started preparing, my toddler was busy measuring the milk and flour our whilst I sliced the cabbage and onions.
My son didn’t stop asking questions as he just loves to be in the kitchen with me. He helped wash and add the tomatoes as we put the lasagne together and was very liberal with his seasoning 🙂
We kept the laptop open and followed the recipe, switching to the cooking mode which made it easier to concentrate on cooking. The lasagne came together really easily and my son loved watching me add the colourful layers one by one.
The lasagne was delicious and fed the four of us so we’ll definitely be making it again. We’ll also be having a look to see what other tasty recipes we can find for Christmas and the winter months.
Don’t forget you can download the Cooking with Kids app for free if you have an iPhone or iPad from the app store; shopping on the go has never been easier!

December 5, 2013 at 10:30 pmSounds interesting. What’s in it apart from the cabbage and onion, and tomatoes?
