Gel-A-Peel

Back to school prep {Gel-A-Peel review}

Posted on September 4, 2016September 5, 2016 by jenny

I’m not sure how I’m going to cope when both my children are back at school. We have spent a lot of the summer playing, crafting and reviewing some cool new toys. This morning I was taking up my daughter’s trousers (I’m sure I will be letting them down again soon!) so it seems apt that I’m sharing a fun back to school craft.

Have you heard of the Gel-A-Peel range? It’s a cool new fashion activity that allows you to make your own creations. You can make accessories such as earrings, bracelets, necklaces but also use your creations to decorate bags and notebooks – perfect for back to school crafting!

There are 4 kits in the range including the Starter Kits (£4.99), Accessory Kit (£14.99), the Deluxe Kit (£24.99) and the Design Station (£29.99). We used the Deluxe Kit which has the widest array of colours and accessory hardware, including five Gel-a-Peel tubes, seven designer tips, 24 design templates, accessory hardware and a cleaning tool.

Gel-a-peel Deluxe Kit

The concept is quite simple:

-Choose one of the templates supplied in the pack

-Pick your coloured pen and choose a designer pen tip to create your desired effect

-Place your template beneath the clear acetate sheet provided and trace your design

-When it’s fully dry, peel off your design to wear or decorate!

The first time we used the pens we followed the instructions, both children making the designs with their favourite colours. They took a while to dry, the instructions aren’t very clear about this and we ended up leaving ours overnight. The designs are pretty and my daughter enjoyed making and wearing the bracelets. Some of the templates were too advanced for my children but they loved the concept and I can imagine my 12 year old niece would enjoy this set.

My 6 year old used the letter template to write his name and when the letters were dry we were able to glue them to his notebook. Gel-a-Peel is a fun idea for crafty kids and we can’t wait to use it again.
