Five Happy Things {Week 507}

Posted on July 8, 2024 by jenny

Starting the week by writing the Happy List is something I’ve been doing for the last few years. It’s my chance to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of the adventures we have as a family.

Five Happy Things {Week 507}

Last week I finished reading The Story Spinner by Barbara Erskine thanks to an ARC from NetGalley. I’ve read one of her books before (The Dream Weavers) and really enjoyed it, The Story Spinner was equally good.

We enjoyed our chance to vote during the General Election and made sure we took our pup and daughter with us. There were lots of dog and it was a good opportunity to show our daughter how easy it is to vote.

My daughter loves to bake and we tried the Dr Oetker Stuffed Cookie Mix S’Mores kit. She loves to eat s’mores and this packet mix made a delicious cookie with a marshmallow filling. It was a little messy to put together but worth the effort for freshly baked cookies.

I won two handmade lavender bags from Fine Cell Work on Instagram. Worked in eleven rows of neat chain stitch and filled with organic lavender, the Rainbow Lavender Bags are a great natural air freshener, as well as an effective moth repellant. Fine Cell Work are a charity who help rebuild the lives of people in prison with the transformative power of needlework. I have a Fine Cell Work handmade cushion in a gorgeous Cath Kidston design so I was already familiar with their work. These bags are both practical and pretty!

We watched a lot of sport last week, including the Euros and Wimbledon. My son and husband were lucky to get tickets to the Formula 1 at Silverstone and see Lewis Hamilton win on Sunday!

Have a great week and do let me know what made you happy last week.

    I love the sound of the s’mores cookies, we will have to have a go at that kit. I also went down to vote last week – I took my daughter with me. Hope you enjoy your week.

    I’m so jealous of your son and husband going to the F1, I really want to go but it’s so expensive for what it is, especially with how bad the weather was this year. The s’mores cookies sound yummy x

    How sweet your pup is! That’s lovely that voting is a family event ^_^ I’ve been trying to keep up with Wimbledon as I do love tennis so that’s been exciting as well. Overall sounds like a lovely week 🙂
