Five Happy Things

Five Happy Things {Week 50/2025}

Starting the week by writing the Happy List is something I’ve been doing for the last few years. It’s my chance to sit down and reflect on the little or big things that made me smile in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures.

We started the week with my sons Christmas concert at school. He plays in the school orchestra and it was lovely to see him play and all his hard work pay off.

As our Maileg mice are out (they are definitely part of our annual Christmas decorations now) we decided to make them a cardboard tube post box. We posted all our Christmas cards during the week so we made a matching post box for them to post their own letters. There is something about making miniatures, it’s just satisfying.

I finished reading The Killer Question by Janice Hallett last night. I think this was my favourite book by her, it had plenty of twists and turns but wasn’t overly complicated. I love the way her books feature texts, emails and lists and this makes the books more fun to read.

We went into London over the weekend to see the Christmas lights. We’ve done this for the last few years and walked from Oxford Circus to Liberty’s, Carnaby Street, Regent Street to Fortnum and Mason. Then we walked up through the Burlington Arcade and up Old Bond Street before heading back to the tube and home. We took our dog but it was so busy that we ended up carrying him a lot.

I’ve been working on embroidering my Christmas Countdown panel which is starting to look really good. It’s a really lovely Christmas project, and the perfect pairing to the Christmas films we’ve been watching.

Have a lovely week!
