Monday Happy List

Five Happy Things {Week 478}

Starting the week by writing the Happy List is something I’ve been doing for a while over the last few years. It is my chance to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures. It’s a post I love to write and look back over.

Five Happy Things {Week 478}

As we still have the decorators in we can’t get to our Christmas decorations. Instead we’ve put up our external Christmas lights but haven’t decorated inside yet. Thankfully we already had lots of candles and some twinkly lights, but we are all looking forward to the decorators going so we can tidy up the house and get decorating.

A few weeks ago we bought a couple of Lego gingerbread ornaments from the Lego Store. The sets only contained three gingerbread ornaments so we ended up buying two sets to make a family. They were easy to build but something the kids enjoyed doing. They will be going up on the tree soon.

It’s December which means it’s practically the month of baking gingerbread biscuits. My daughter and I held out for a few weeks but finally decided it was time to get baking. We dug through our box of cookie cutters and she made one of everything, whilst I made gingerbread houses and trees.

I’m still making Christmas projects. Last week I finished my festive table runner which was from the latest Hoop Club subscription box. It was a really simple project but I enjoyed hemming it and stitching the bows. It’s out on the dining room table and I’m keeping my fingers crossed the kids keep it clean.

We’ve been having fun with our  Scout elves, even though I’m sure our daughter doesn’t believe any more. We’ve they’ve hidden chocolate baubles for the kids to find, toasted marshmallows in the log burner, worn Christmas jumpers for Christmas jumper day and even Rick Rolled the teen. I love that we’ve adapted some of the traditions the kids loved when they were little and are making them work as the kids get older.

  4. Aww the gingerbread legos are so cute! What a fun and festive decoration. I still have some decorating to do as well…I feel like I’m really struggling to get my motivation going this year. I’m the opposite though- inside done, outside needs to get done now.

  6. Love this and it’s good to sit and reflect to appreciate all of the good in your life. Some focus too much on the negative and that brings negative. I am all for gratitude and being grateful for what seems like the little things…. my family and our health is everything to me!
