Starting the week by writing the Happy List is something I’ve been doing for the last few years. It’s my chance to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of the adventures we have as a family.
Five Happy Things {Week 15/2025}
Last week we enjoyed a few days away in sunny Dorset where we took the teens karting at Clay Pigeon Raceway on Wardon Hill, near Dorchester. We also visited the Fleet Air Arm Museum and watched A Minecraft Movie.
We used our National Trust membership to visit Tintinhull Gardens and re-visited Lytes Cary House and Gardens, where the kids took part in the Easter Egg Hunt and were rewarded with chocolate eggs.
When we got back to London I took the older teen to watch Macbeth at The Globe as it’s one of his texts for GCSE English Literature. It was a really great experience to sit in The Globe as we’ve walked past it so many times. We paid extra for cushions (and I’m really glad we did). The performance was amazing and it was fun to sit and watch such a famous story in famous surroundings.
We love a sculpture trail and visited two different ones! Whilst we were in Lyme Regis we followed the Stampede by the Sea art trail. We also managed to squeeze in some of the Big Egg Hunt sculpture trail around London.
I finally finished reading The Greek House by Dinah Jefferies (book review here, spoiler not my favourite book by the author). I started reading The Elopement by Gill Hornby which I’m enjoying more.

April 21, 2025 at 10:07 pmOoh. A sculpture train sounds like a lot of fun. That’s a great way to enjoy some time outdoors and get in some art appreciation at the same time.
