Fashion shame

As much as I love looking through old photographs I really didn’t want to look back at ones of myself! I was born in 1977  so pretty much all the photos of me from when I was born until I left home for Uni show fashion disasters. Unlike my older sister I never cared about fashion. I’d rather be comfortable and I always seem to have bought the latest fashion item when I could afford it i.e. after it stopped being fashionable.

My first fashion disaster shows me in costume – note – not my real clothes! I’m a huge Gilbert and Sullivan fan and enjoyed being part of a local am dram group at school. I’m in the middle with some friends before a performance of Utopia Limited.

I’m a very proud St Andrean and spent five happy years there, four of which involved the wearing of the red undergraduate gown.

See, what did I tell you about dressing sensibly? Here I am looking every inch the archaeologist I thought I wanted to be on an exotic dig in western Scotland.

And finally a picture of me dressed for school several years after I stopped going. When I was looking through my photos I found an embarrassing number taken on nights out with old school friends in London. Our favourite club was The Office on Rathbone Place but we regularly frequented  School Disco at various venues across London.

  1. OMG I went to School Disco A LOT… Will have to dig out some photos for you. I even had my hen night there 🙂

How often do you wear the red gown at St Andrews?
Would Kate and William have worn it?
