One of the first ‘proper’ toys my son had was a BRIO train set. It was a basic set but as we realised how much he loved it we added to it with more track and bridges. He made brilliant layouts and we quickly got used to having the track out across the floor (and learnt how not to trip over it!). We’ve always loved wooden toys – they are sustainable, easy to clean, brilliant quality and excellent value.

BRIO is a popular brand and I love how they keep expanding their range. In BRIO World there are no borders and no limitations – just endless possibilities. All six themes within BRIO World are connected in a playful interactive system so that you can ride, drive, run or fly between them if you like.

We received some of the new Village products – the School Playset and Village Modules. We hadn’t seen anything like this before and they have really helped extend our basic train track.

School Playset

The School Playset contains 22 pieces including 2 figures, bench, ladder, slide, and pieces to build a school. Want to learn more about the alphabet, play hide and seek or slide down the slide? At school there is always lots of fun. Come and play with your friends, outside or indoors.

Village Modules

The Village Modules contains 14 pieces. Want to make your house bigger or create your own layout? With these extra walls, floors, roofs and windows you can build and rebuild as often as you like.

It’s safe to say the children have loved these new toys. The train track has been out all week and they’ve been having some great adventures and storytelling sessions with it. I’ve always thought these kinds of toys are great for open-ended play, there are no hidden agendas, the children just get to play however they want.

They found the buildings a little tricky to put together but I think that is just because they were new. I helped them to build them, instructions are on the back of the boxes, but you can also mix and match with other sets to create your own buildings. The only limit is your imagination!
