Edible Minecraft mushrooms for a Minecraft birthday party

Edible Minecraft mushrooms for a Minecraft birthday party

Posted on April 20, 2018 by jenny

Preparing food for a Minecraft birthday party is so much fun. Recently my son had a Minecraft themed birthday. I found it pretty hard to find any Minecraft themed goodies so settled for “pixel” themed items from eBay. I managed to find a matching tablecloth, plates, napkins and cups, which all looked really good.

With a group of hungry boys I had to make sure I had some fun food to serve them. There was Pizza (definitely not a Minecraft food!) but also dough balls for bread rolls, watermelon slices, twiglets for wood, red sweet hearts for health, chocolate chip cookies, creeper juice (or water with special labels), and our special Minecraft mushroom sweet treats. I found free Minecraft printables on Pinterest to go with each food which completed the food table.

The Edible Minecraft mushrooms were fun to make, and went down really well, so I thought I’d share how I made them here.

All you need is:

Super large marshmallows

Red Candy Melts

White Candy Melts

How to make edible Minecraft mushrooms for a Minecraft birthday party

First melt the Candy Melts according to the instructions on the packets. Take a marshmallow and dip one end in the red candy melt.

I found it quite thick and gloopy so didn’t need to worry about it running but you can always scrape off any excess.

I placed each one on a sheet of baking parchment. When I had covered each of the marshmallows I added small drops of the white Candy Melt with the end of a skewer.

I left them to dry, which didn’t take very long. I think they looked great and they went down really well at our Minecraft party. Let me know if you try them!
