Easy resin personalised letters

My tween had the great idea of making a keepsake for her bedroom using some of her favourite small items. We found wooden fillable letters and purchased resin to fill the letter with her favourite items and make a really personalised item for her room. We’ve used a wooden fillable letter before, they are a large wooden shape made from thin wood which can be filled with anything, such as the sea glass one we previously made.

We used:

Wooden fillable letters from Hobbycraft

Clear Epoxy Resin Starter kit x 2 (from Amazon)

Glue gun

Plastic tray

Selection of lego bricks and toys

My daughter picked out a selection of small items, such as small toys, Lego minifigures and items relating to her hobbies. Whilst she did this I chose a selection of Lego bricks to make a similar personalised letter for her brother. We placed the items where we wanted them, making sure they weren’t touching another object, and used a small amount of hot glue to keep them in place. We also placed a small amount of hot glue along the inside edges of each letter to ensure the resin didn’t seep out of any gaps.

Whilst the hot glue dried we prepared the epoxy resin according to the instructions. We wanted to pour the resin in layers to make sure it set properly, so measured approximately one third of the liquid in each bottle.

We carefully poured in the first layer of resin and set it aside to dry.

Then we poured the second layer of resin and set it aside to dry.

And then the third and final layer of resin. The quantity from the two bottles was just about enough to cover the small items we had placed inside each wooden letter (we used one started kit for each letter). The resin dried clear and really highlighted the small items inside.

The finished resin personalised letters make great room decor for tweens and teens! What would you put in yours?
