With thoughts turning to back to school (not really but I felt I had to say it!) the last Makerly subscription box felt like excellent timing. I love a subscription box and have recently subscribed to Makerly to encourage my creativity. I’ve been pretty bad at making time to craft which is silly, as it always makes me feel so much better!
I ordered the latest Makerly craft subscription box and waited for it to arrive. It came in a slightly chubby box with everything for one make. This months make was a stamped pencil case kit containing a blank pencil case with zip, two fabric paints, and equipment to make my own stamps.
I liked the ideas for making your own stamps but really wanted to make my own. I’ve used foam sheets to make my own stamps before, it’s really cheap and effective. I simply drew my design on the paper side of the foam and cut it out using my craft knife.
When I had cut out my monstera leaf I painted on some black fabric paint and carefully printed it onto the pencil case blank. I did the same with the other leaf using the blue fabric paint.
It was very satisfying!
I left everything to dry and finished it off with one of the enclosed tassels.
I really enjoyed this DIY. Once I had decided on what stamps to make it didn’t take long to finish. There was plenty of fabric paint, foam sheet as well as colourful pom poms and tassels to add to my craft stash, so overall I thought this was a great value subscription box.

July 29, 2018 at 8:28 pmThis is a lovely little project. I’ve never made my own stamps despite knowing how to for over 20 years. Could be something for the summer holidays 🙂 xx
