DIY Baby Yoda Mug Warmer

DIY Baby Yoda Mug Warmer

I love making handmade gifts and my thoughts are beginning to turn to the gifts I want to make and give this Christmas. Handmade gifts are always well received and our DIY mug warmer will be enjoyed by those who love their tea and coffee! I used a sweet Baby Yoda fabric for my little Star Wars fan but this would look great in many fabrics.

Baby Yoda Mug Warmer equipment list:

1 yard of Baby Yoda fabric
1 yard of Wrap N Zap (or alternative thick cotton batting)
Elastic cord
2 large buttons
Matching thread (I used white)
Scissors

How to make a DIY Baby Yoda Mug Warmer:

First find the length of the fabric you need by measuring the distance around the mug.

Add an extra 1/2″ for a seam. Measure the height of the mug and make it a little less on the top and the bottom. Add an extra 1/2″ for a seam. Once you have the template created, cut out one piece of wrap n zap and two pieces of fabric.

Pin the fabric right sides together with the wrap n zap on top. Then place a loop of the elastic cord (roughly 6 cms) on one end of the fabric with the loop facing inside.

Using a sewing machine sew a seam all around the edges, going over the elastic ends several times. Make sure to leave an opening about 5 cms open on one side.

Turn the edges of the fabric on the open side under and pin in place. Top stitch around the cozy including the opening.

Hand sew a large button on the opposite side of the short end to complete your Baby Yoda mug warmer.

I think this would make a lovely handmade gift to give. You can personalise it by choosing a fabric which your recipient would love to use.
