A few days ago we shared our plans to make a book nook to celebrate World Book Day. The children had lots of ideas for celebrating World Book Day and we did so much crafting last week! We made our own book marks, decorated World Book Day cupcakes inspired by Varjak Paw (our current book), shared a giveaway to win a copy of the latest Draw With Rob book and planned our own book nooks. What is a Book Nook? A Book Nook is basically a small diorama of an alleyway visible between the books on your shelves. Search on…

This World Book Day we just had to bring you a book giveaway. Our family love books, fact or fiction, it doesn’t matter. My children have read a lot over the last few months and have been excited for the release of the latest activity book by Rob Biddulph. I don’t know how we first discovered Rob Biddulph but my children love his style and eagerly await his weekly draw alongs. His third activity book is published today and I was delighted that I could pre-order copies for them as a special World Book Day gift! I have one extra…

We have been excitedly talking about World Book Day for a good few weeks now As a family of bookworms we just love to read and World Book Day means everyone can celebrate the joy of reading. Thanks to home learning the whole family are getting involved in World Book Day this year. We are looking forward to taking part in an online assembly with David Walliams as well as a virtual meet with Tom Fletcher and Rob Biddulph through the World Book Day website on Thursday. World Book Day activities My children’s school challenged them to make book nooks…

World Book Day will be different this year. As a parent I’m glad that I don’t need to provide my children with costumes to wear to school as both of them dislike dressing up. We will be celebrating World Book Day (Thursday 4th March) at home. We have already chosen books with our World Book Day vouchers and are looking forward to some of the online events we’ve seen. World Book Day 2021 This year World Book Day falls on Thursday 4th March. We love World Book Day because it encourages everyone to celebrate books! Reading has been a big…

A few weeks ago my children’s school set them a fun challenge – to make a book sign post to decorate the school grounds. Both my children love to read and wanted to take part. It was a really fun project so I thought I would share it with you in case it inspires your children too. I’m sure you’ve seen this kind of sign post before. They usually feature travel destinations but there’s no reason why they can’t be adapted for literary destinations or titles too. My children were asked to decorate their book signs with the titles and…

If you’re a parent of a child in Infant or Junior School then I’m sure you will be aware that World Book Day is coming up next week. Our family are not fans of dressing up so we are relieved that the children only have to take their favourite book in as they will have plenty of time to read during school. Viking recently asked if I would like to craft something special for World Book Day. They knew that we all love reading and asked us to remember a story that sparked our imagination, then craft a scene, character…

My 7 year old recently caught the reading bug. She has been reading all her older brothers books, which means she has devoured the Captain Underpants, Barry Loser and The Diary of a Wimpy Kid books. She is regularly falling asleep with a book on her face and I love that she just wants to read. George from Captain Underpants costume Over the last few years both my children have got involved in World Book Day celebrations. I’m not a huge fan of spending money on costumes as I’d much rather spend it on books! This year my son in…

World Book Day is here again! Us parents either love it or loathe it. I was so jealous of other school as ours had a strict pyjama dress code only. Last year this was relaxed but there has been some hoo haa this year, loads of confusion and the mixed message of costumes or pyjamas. I understand that not everyone wants to buy or make costumes for World Book Day. My son hates dressing up but my daughter loves it. This year she really wanted to go as Harry Potter but eventually she chose Where’s Wally instead. I didn’t mind,…

This is the first year that my children’s school has celebrated World Book Day. Previously they have given out the tokens but never asked the children to dress up. I always enjoyed looking at my Facebook feed and seeing what everyone dressed their children up as, this year it was our turn to take part! My daughter loves dressing up but my son never has. I asked them both what they wanted to be. My 5 year old immediately said Batman! We’ve never read a Batman book but we were lucky to receive one when we attended The Lego Batman…
