January felt like a long month so I am super excited that today is the first of February. February is a great month with Valentine’s Day, Shrove Tuesday and my husband’s birthday! We love making Valentine’s Day a really family affair. In our house everyone gets a card and we love to craft as red is such a gorgeous colour after a harsh winter. Today I wanted to share a fun no-sew felt craft with you to make a bouquet of felt roses. Make one or make a bunch, they are so easy and look great! How to make a…

Have you started thinking about Valentine’s Day yet? I love to give my children a card and a little sweet treat, just like my parents used to give me and my sister. This year I wanted to make a paper treat bag to hold my treats. They are embellished with a paper weave detail which adds a pop of colour. I used a rainbow of colours but I think they would look lovely in monochrome or pastels too. I am so happy to start crafting for Valentine’s Day. Not that I don’t fully embrace Winter, but its been colder than usual here in London and I was starting to get a tiny bit bored of the lack of colour. So welcome Valentine’s Day, warm hugs (which always makes me think of Olaf!) and the colour red. Valentine’s Day is a great occasion for the whole family to celebrate. I treasure the Valentine’s Day cards my parents gave me as a child and carry on the tradition with my own children at this time of year. I think that…

A few weeks ago my daughter and I were shopping in Hobbycraft where we found a huge display of air drying clay alongside some inspiration of things to make. My daughter wanted to try making something at home so we bought a huge pack of white air drying clay and went home. How to make a Valentine’s clay handprint keepsake We cut the block of clay in half and rolled out one half until it was large enough to place both her hands on it. She pressed both her hands into the clay and I drew around them with a…

You know when you see something on Pinterest and you just have to make it? Well just before Christmas I came across a puff pastry Nutella Christmas tree and knew I wanted to try it. We made it for breakfast just before Christmas and it was a bit fiddly but worth the effort. It made for a really lovely breakfast. With Valentine’s Day coming up we thought we would try a special heart version, the method is exactly the same. Puff pastry Nutella heart There are loads of recipes and tutorials for making a puff pastry Nutella Christmas tree. They…

My children are both excited about Valentine’s Day later this month. It’s a lovely day to mark and a great reason to craft handmade cards and gifts. My children have both been making little things to give. So far we have made fingerprint heart keepsakes and today I’m going to share our easy Valentine’s Day sun catchers. There has been so much in the news about plastic waste that I’m pleased we were able to raid the recycling box and use plastic milk bottle. Easy recycled Valentine’s Day sun catchers for kids to make We used: empty plastic milk bottle…

We’ve had the most miserable weather all weekend. Days can be very long when you have two kids at home. To bring some colour and joy into our day we decided to make a head start on our Valentine’s Day crafts with some a fingerprint heart keepsake. We love giving handmade gifts. I think I’ve kept almost everything the children have ever made. I want them to understand that the best things are those that have been given a little thought. It doesn’t matter how much they cost but that they have spent their time and energy of giving something…

Regular readers will know that every month I challenge myself to make the Mollie Makes magazine cover gift. I’ve subscribed since it first came out and have had a drawer full of unopened kits – but no more! I’ve been making more time for grown up crafting and I love to make the kits and hopefully try something new. Mollie Makes Floral Hoop Kit Mollie Makes Floral ‘Let Love Bloom’ Hoop Kit from Issue 87 was designed by Amanda Bryde of Brynn & Co. It contained a plastic embroidery hoop, printed cotton fabric, embroidery threads and a sewing needle. I love a…

The other day I made a super sweet fabric envelope for my daughter. Yesterday I made something for my son from Duck Tape! As much as I loved the Liberty envelope I knew he would like something a little more robust so crafted an envelope from Duck Tape. Duck Tape Valentine envelope craft I love crafting with Duck Tape and they have a great range of colours for this time of year. Envelopes are pretty simple to make and you an make them any size, perfect for a chocolate heart or little card. First I made a Duck Tape sheet…
