    Mini butterfly sun catchers

The Summer holidays have started now Big Brother has finished school. We’ve been enjoying lazy mornings and lots of crafting. Luckily we were sent some lovely craft kits from Baker Ross and the children really enjoyed the mini butterfly sun catchers. It contained 12 butterfly sun catchers of four different designs and some ribbon to hang them. We used our fine tip porcelain and glass pens to colour them and I put down a plastic splash mat to protect my table (both from Baker Ross). My children love to craft but I’m not always ready with ideas and materials for…

    Simple Eton mess

Did you know that tomorrow is National Ice Cream Day?  The weather has been bright and sunny today so we enjoyed ice creams when we were out for a walk. After dinner we made some delicious Eton Mess desserts with Kelly’s of Cornwall ice cream and Clark’s delicious dessert toppings. Eton mess is a well known English dessert consisting of strawberries, pieces of meringue, and cream, traditionally served at Eton College’s annual cricket game against Harrow School. It is one of my favourite Summer desserts so we made our own version today. Ingredients needed to make Eton Mess: Punnet of…

    Paper plate weather station

We were recently sent a box of arts and crafts supplies from Baker Ross. The children really enjoyed opening them as they sent a mixture of fun craft kits and supplies. These foam weather stickers immediately caught our eye. The pack contained around 100 of 24 different designs so the children had fun trying to find them all. I asked them what they wanted to create and they said paper plate weather stations. There aren’t many photographs because this is a quick and easy craft activity. Time to make: 10 minutes Equipment needed to make a paper plate weather station:…

Top tips for creating a Summer fairy garden

What is a fairy garden? It’s a miniature garden for fairies to live in. My 3 year loves Tinkerbell and after we had watched Tinkerbell and the Great Fairy Rescue we were inspired to make our own together. Since then we’ve made a couple, both temporary houses indoor and a few permanent fairy houses outside. Creating a fairy garden is a great activity that all the family can do together and is a great way to spend time enjoying the sunshine. The best thing is that they can be added to over time so why not start a fairy garden…

Our Summer holiday round up – Week 7

Today is my last weekly Summer holiday round up. I’m well aware that all of my friends have waved their children off to a new school term, except me. This morning it’s finally the turn of my 4 year old. I’m both excited that he’s starting a new chapter but also feeling terribly sad about losing him to school. Luckily for me I still have my 2 year old so no worries about my having lots of time on my hands to do the housework or food shopping 🙂 The past week has been quite busy as we’ve packed in…

Our Summer holiday round up – Week 6

Our Summer holidays really are nearing the end. Week 6 has been the quietest of them all, we’ve spent a lot of time at home and I seem to have spent most of it struggling to get hold of school uniform! We’ve stayed local, venturing to the cinema to see Planes 2 again and enjoyed a few lunches out. My 4 year old had one of his friends from nursery over to play which was surprisingly fun, even if he did want to play with every toy we have. I’ve managed to give some old shelves the Annie Sloan treatment…
