Our Summer holiday round up – Week 7

Posted on September 10, 2014September 9, 2014 by jenny

Today is my last weekly Summer holiday round up. I’m well aware that all of my friends have waved their children off to a new school term, except me. This morning it’s finally the turn of my 4 year old. I’m both excited that he’s starting a new chapter but also feeling terribly sad about losing him to school. Luckily for me I still have my 2 year old so no worries about my having lots of time on my hands to do the housework or food shopping 🙂

The past week has been quite busy as we’ve packed in some last minute Summer holiday adventures.

We started with a bang and a day at Drayton Manor to see the new Thomas & Friends film Tale of the Brave. My two were in heaven – the cinema, the Fat Controller and a day at Thomas Land. As it was the end of the school holidays there were no queues on any of the rides and the park was pretty empty so we were able to go on everything we wanted to which was bliss with an excited 2 and 4 year old.

My 2 year old completed her Summer reading challenge at our local library, it involved collecting stickers which made her very happy. Both children also completed their Bookstart Bear Club passports and received their final 10th certificate and a little Archie bear. They were so excited to receive them at the weekly library session we attend, although it felt like the end of an era too.

As today was the last day of the Summer holidays we managed to fit in crafting, blowing bubbles in the garden, a bath, a spot of baking thanks to a recipe for carrot cakes in a Peppa Pig magazine, some scooting and a trip on the bus. I don’t think I sat down once 🙂

My sewing has been mainly sewing on uniform labels but I’ve made a few hexagons for the Union flag quilt and also a couple of felt Christmas ornaments for a handmade swap. I also picked up my final Wild Olive seasonal Stitching Club project. With Spring, Summer and Autumn crossed off my list, there’s only Winter left 🙂

What a busy time. We were invited to the Thomas event, but it feel on the first day back to school so couldn’t make it. It sounded like a lot of fun.
