One of the perks of being a blogger is that my children get to review some lovely toys. Big Brother is a typical boy who has enjoyed playing with cars since he could grasp one. Over the years I’ve loved watching him play with them and his growing imagination means he is never short of ideas to play. He was recently sent the Hot Wheels Nitrobot Attack playset to tell you about. Hot Wheels Nitrobot Attack Hot Wheels toys are fun and you can save the City from the Nitrobot with the Hot Wheels Nitrobot Attack! Yep, kids can now…

I posted a few pics of our gingerbread house on Instagram yesterday and got comments saying I was far too early for Christmas! Since when was a gingerbread house just for Christmas? I think they make a pretty good treat for Halloween too as they are really versatile and easy to decorate for any season. Decorating a Halloween gingerbread house As we’re currently in the middle of half term we decorated a gingerbread house as part of our Halloween celebrations. This is always a great activity to do with my children and it kept them occupied all afternoon. It also…

As Baker Ross ambassadors we were sent a selection of craft kits to review. The latest one was this fun set of Solar System scratch art containing 6 designs including space ships and planets. Each pre-cut planet shape comes with a scratch tool and coloured ribbon for hanging. How to make a Solar system scratch art display You will need: Solar system scratch art kit from Baker Ross Cardboard box Centre punch…

My 5 year old has quite simple tastes in toys, if it has wheels he’s generally happy. He especially loves Hot Wheels cars, and so do I, as they are pocket money-friendly. He was sent the new Hot Wheels Super Speed Blastway and a Hot Wheels tshirt from the new Zara Hot Wheels collection to review. He’s only 5 but quite tall so received a size 7-8 shirt which fits him perfectly. The tshirt features a fun shiny text print and is lovely and soft. As well as the lovely new tshirt he also received the Hot Wheels Super Speed…

For the last few weeks my children have been enchanted by a marble run in our local toy shop. Every time we visit they have demanded a couple of marbles so they can watch what happens when they set them off at the top of the run. Luckily for them they were sent the Hubelino Marble Run Starter Set and they’ve been having lots of fun with it at home. The Starter Set includes 85 parts and a construction book, that shows you how to build Marble Runs with less than 10 parts, but also with a lot more. The…

Always on the look out for some quick and easy crafts to occupy my children, last year we thought we’d try and make wriggly jelly worms, which we’d seen on Pinterest and are perfect for a Halloween party or a Halloween STEM activity. This was fun but messy and I recommend taking your time with it. Equipment you will need to make jelly worms: Jelly cubes Mixing jug 100 plastic straws How to make jelly worms: The first stage was to mix up the jelly. We used two packs of jelly cubes which we melted in hot water, before topping…

I know my children don’t have a clue about Easter but that hasn’t stopped us enjoying some Easter crafting. Yesterday we tried our hands at decorating and dyeing hard boiled eggs. This was actually quite quick so the children were able to follow the whole process. I thought I’d share it here as my two really enjoyed it. You will need: eggs Scotch Magic Tape scissors vinegar food colouring {STEM activity} Dyeing eggs for Easter First hard boil the eggs.
