We are a family which loves Lego. We have more Lego sets than we can display in our living room and my 6 year old have a Lego collection to rival any adult. He has a homemade Lego table and storage system which I have previously written about but we’ve recently bought him a new bed and changed his room around and he basically is not interested in keeping his Lego sets separate (much to my annoyance!). Our Lego storage is pretty simple; named drawers for each type, so Lego Minecraft, Lego Arctic, Lego Superheroes, Lego Star Wars, etc. It…

Yay, we made it to half term! I’m writing my weekly post about the things that have made me happy before I get back to the important task of enjoying being with the kids. I stitched a cute little mini quilt inspired by love hearts. I totally meant to hand stitch some messages on each one but didn’t have time. I gave my children boxes of Love Hearts yesterday and was surprised by the modern sayings on them. I think I prefer the ones I grew up with. Last week I had the termly Parents’ Evening for both children. I’m lucky…

We’re huge fans of Lego. My husband and I grew up with it and have grown into AFOLs (Adult Fans of Lego!). The children love saving their pocket money to buy Lego sets, which are frequently featured on my other blog, Treading on Lego. We are hugely inspired by Lego and I recently had fun sharing 11 Lego crafts for kids and adults which we have made over the last few years. We try to visit Legoland Windsor every year, we’re lucky to only live 30 minutes away, and we’re already planning our next awesome family day out. In case…

Last year we spent some time sorting out our 5 year olds bedroom. He doesn’t seem to need much sleep so we wanted to make an area for him to play when he wakes up early. He already had an Ikea Trofast unit but we thought we would give it a makeover and make it more useful. Much as I don’t want to, I really love some Ikea furniture. It is cheap, cheerful, good value and easy to customise. I’d seen lots of Ikea hack Lego tables on Pinterest and knew I wanted to make something similar. Equipment needed: White…

As fans of Lego I thought it was about time I pulled together a list of the Lego crafts we have had fun with. When I was younger I had a few tubs of Lego bricks and remember receiving some Lego Technic sets which I really enjoyed building and re-building. Today I am still happily surrounded by Lego. My husband loves Lego as much as I do and fortunately the children seem to love it too. I hope you enjoy some of these Lego crafts for kids and adults. 11 Lego crafts for kids and adults We’re lucky to live…

My 5 year old has been pretty much hooked on Minecraft since we introduced it to him a couple of months ago. He’s allowed 30 minutes a day if he’s done his homework and helped with some chores. I’d like to say it’s a family thing as my husband and daughter are equally addicted, I seem to be the only person who doesn’t play it. A couple of months ago he wrote his Christmas wish list and Minecraft featured pretty heavily. I thought I would share our Minecraft gift guide with you, there are a few things he has asked…

I can’t believe I’ve managed to keep posting the 5 things which make me happy for well over a year now. It’s a great way of marking the passing weeks which are going so quickly. This week has been busy with a big birthday and the school Christmas Fayre, which I helped organise. I’m not sure how I managed to do anything else – but I did! We upcycled a wooden crate into a sleigh to hold our Book Advent. I painted it in my favourite Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Emperor’s Silk which is a gorgeous, deep red colour. You…

A few weeks ago I received an email from the Lego store with a new promotion where you received a free Lego Gingerbread House set if your order was over a certain amount. Luckily my son had asked for a few Lego Minecraft kits for Christmas, so a few days ago Lego Gingerbread House 40139 arrived. Lego Gingerbread House 40139 The Lego Gingerbread House 40139 is a limited edition set for 2015 and contained 4 bags of Lego, one loose piece and the instruction booklet. I took it away with us this weekend and built it whilst everyone was asleep. I love…

What a busy week and weekend! It’s lovely to sit down and take 5 minutes to remember the things which made me smile last week. We enjoyed an amazing meal at Strada at Riverside (More London) on Saturday. We had the best table in the house and were able to enjoy a delicious lunch with a view encompassing HMS Belfast to the Tower of London and London Bridge. I will be writing a full post about our experience this week but let me leave you with this image of our Burrata & prosciutto starter until then. We spent yesterday spotting…
